Can we measure Fedora users by language?
by Rafal Luzynski
An interesting question has been asked during the I18N track of
the last Flock: can we tell how many Fedora users actually use
a specific (human) language? This would help us answer the questions
like:
* do the translations increase the number of Fedora users?
* are there languages not really used by Fedora users?
This seems easy to measure if we are able to count the number of
downloads of specific packages, here langpacks would be interesting,
as a percentage of total Fedora installs. Note that the total sum
would probably be larger than 100% because an individual computer may
have multiple langpacks installed and also because a single IP may be
shared by multiple computers. This is still OK.

New Translation Target: Fedora Modules
by Stephen Gallagher
Hello, members of the Fedora internationalization community!
As I expect most of you are aware, Fedora has been heavily driving forwards with a new technology: Modularity. As part of this initiative, I have set up a new translation project on fedora.zanata.org that will contain all of the summary, description and profile descriptions for every module available in each Fedora branch (starting with Fedora 28).
These strings will be used by end-users who are trying to determine what they need to install on their systems, so it would be highly desirable to get them translated and made available.
The translations will be automatically consumed from Zanata and added to the repository metadata for the relevant Fedora releases, so they are not necessarily bound to the usual translation deadline; they can come in at any future nightly repository compose.
The new translation project can be found at https://fedora.zanata.org/project/view/fedora-modularity-translations
Currently, the source strings are generated manually. I have written a simple tool[1][2] that will automatically extract the translatable strings from all modules tagged for a particular Fedora release and upload them to Zanata. I would very much like to know if there is a good system that I could tie into in order to have this extraction and upload done periodically (nightly).
If there's anything I can do to help this get started, please let me or Langdon White (langdon(a)redhat.com) know and we'll do our best to assist.

Looking for a feedback from Indian speakers
by Rafal Luzynski
Hi,
I'm working on an upstream bug in glibc [1] and I'm looking for
a feedback from actual speakers, translators and users from India.
It's a question about the date format as displayed by the command
"date +%x" and by some applications (e.g., geeqie). Originally the
bug was reported for en_IN but I can see that all *_IN locales have
the same problem.
Thank you and sorry for the noise.
Regards,
Rafal

I assume you would sign into https://fedora.zanata.org, go to the
fedora-modularity-translations project, select your language and start
submitting strings.
That said, I'm not a member of the Internationalization Team, so I don't
know their specific processes. I'd look at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N/Translate_on_Zanata for the basics.

Cannot upplead po file to Zanata
by Cheng-Chia Tseng
Hi all,
I used to translate offline and upload po file to Zanata.
However, I find "update po file" option has been removed nowadays.
It is kind of awkward because most of our community translators (zh-TW
team, traditional Chinese) work on translations offline. That is part of
our workflow.
How can we upload po files to Zanata?
Thanks.
