Localized Pangrams in the Software Center

Hi all. I'm currently using "How quickly daft jumping zebras vex" as
the sample text in the software center, which doesn't make sense for
non-English locales like in Lohit-Punjabi.ttf

I'm trying to get some data together as I don't think anyone has done
this before, and I've put together this spreadsheet. When all the
editing has calmed down I can move this onto the Fedora wiki if that
would be useful.

Sure, I thought about that. One fixed translation often doesn't expose
many of the interesting glyphs in a language.

Pango has quite an extensive list of localized pangrams built-in:

https://git.gnome.org/browse/pango/tree/pango/pango-language-sample-table.h

Maybe you could use pango_language_get_sample_string() in gnome-software?

It is not ideal to use the language samples provided by pango, because most
of them are just translations of "glass" sentence.

The idea behind pangram is to present as more essential elements of the
script of the language as possible in one sentence. This is for
ideal-picking from fonts available. It mostly benefits artists, designers
and typography workers.

However, most of the scripts of those translations does not try hard to
show the representative characters in mind, and does not help as target
audience expect.

It might be the last resource to adopt as to pangram issue in my opinion.

Looks good as a fallback, thanks. g_utf8_substring(value,0,2) give me
at least a heuristic, although obviously chosen chars are better.
