Palm Support

I'm trying to get my new (old) Palm m130 setup. I'm running the the latest release of evolution-1.4.5-5, but I can't find evolution-pilot anywhere. Where can I get it? And/or any other information I might need to get started. ~ Matthew

Radeon Mobility 9M

I have fedora up and running very nicely. ACPI working, all seems well, except the "built-in" driver for my Radeon Mobility 9M video doesn't allow for the all important switching to external monitor (projector) except at low res. Same with the driver from ATI. Irritating thing is that the "built in" driver in RH 9 works great... Can I filch the driver from RH 9 ? How ? Thanks. -- John Pantone Objectech Corporation

distribution and update conventions and methods

I am a bit confused ... 1) Conventions Will Fedora Core be available on traditional RedHat mirrors? Will Fedora core be available on ftp://$mirror/pub/fedora/$release, or something like that? Will updates to Fedora Core be available on ftp://$mirror/pub/fedora/updates/$release, or something like that? 2) Method for keeping up to date a) what I used to do: - I did not want to use RedHat Network - I did not want to use the red, green and blue arrows on the panel - every night a local server would download newest updates and errata from a RedHat mirror - every time a workstation booted into runlevel 5, a startup script would update all normal rpms from the local server - every time the workstation shut down or rebooted, a shutdown script would update special rpms like kernel or glibc from the local server b) what should I do from now on? But now I have read so much interesting stuff about apt, yum and up2date in this mailing list. Do I understand it correctly that I just have to run one of these programs without further configuration and the system will be fully updated. It would be too good to be true. Any recommendations from somebody who has already used these tools how to keep a system updated automatically without user intervention? -- Stefan Christians

HD always churning

My HD never stops since installing severn. This doesn't happen in windoze or SuSE, didn't happen in shrike. I don't recognize anything in top that might cause this. All that useless activity interferes with A/V play. The noise is annoying too. How to I find out what's doing this and stop it? -- "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom...." Im sorry, I misread... I know what you mean now...I have the same trouble with getting the GUI to start on the install...however...Last night I reinstalled Fedora and DID get the GUI... but now I cant get the driver installed...??? Strange... --evan hazlett

Up2date

Hi, Up2date seems to be working for me on rawhide this morning. However, every package (the kernel, php and various others) are listed as 'already downloaded' and then the progress bar slides across slowly as if it were downloading the package... The packages appear to install properly - is this an up2date bug?? And every one complained about not having a signature - is that correct or have I failed to set something up properly? I'd also like to thank all of you who have replied to the startup questions I asked last week - it was very helpful, and my system seems to be running fairly well now... thanks, nbc

I don't know what the difference is, but anaconda does try to retry when it cannot read a package. I have had questions pop up with a cancel and retry button, and once it asked for cd 1 (which it had) and ejected the cd and continued after reinserting the cd. (BTW; this was not a bug in FC, it was a defective cdrom player) so I guess the mechanism is there already, but not invoked on every error? David
