Hi, after reading all these replies and the whole discussion, I think I'll revisit my points this weekend, reading all the OGo docs again, but I beg you guys to do the same with Kolab. Kolab 2 is being designed atm., and it would be nice to have a 2nd solution next to OGo. Suppose you are right, and OGo is atm. the best solution, then it will still benefit us to have more then one option... Maarten

OpenGroupware?

I didn't see this brought up yet, but was there any interest in putting OpenGroupware in Fedora Core? If not, is it because of the commercial ZideLook add-on for Outlook? Thanx. -- Bryan P.S. Might be a good idea, considering Microsoft's recent SBS 2003 v. RHEL ES 2.1 study. Yeah, that study was rather pathetic and biased from the start, I mean, SBS 2003 "beta" versus "old" RHEL 2.1 when RHEL 3.0 was also in "beta," among other details (like Windows-only network technologies), but it can't hurt to get to get it in Fedora for a future RHEL release. -- Bryan J. In fact I've just found in rcd messages log that it can't detect any supported system or distribution type and what's why the redcarpet daemon doesn't start (sorry I don't think to look at this log before)... samba browsing problem

Hi all, For some reason, I can't seem to ever get my Samba server to show up in a network browse under Linux. All Windows XP machines on the network show up fine. Access level is User, no domain controller is present. Both the client (Fedora/Rawhide) and the server (Debian) are running Samba 3.0.0. Both machines are using the workgroup HOME. Running smbtree -d 2 on the client, I see several sets of: Got a positive name query response from 192.168.1.7 ( 192.168.1.7 ) Got a positive name query response from 192.168.1.2 ( 192.168.1.2 ) Doing spnego session setup (blob length=16) 192.168.1.7 is a WinXP Pro machine, 192.168.1.2 is the Samba server. Only the WinXP Pro machine shows up in the tree, however. It doesn't matter if I enter my user's network password when prompted by smbtree; the server nor its shares ever show. The same problem exists in the Nautilus SMB browser. Fedore 0.95 Nautilus SMB error

I installed fedora 0.95 and I'm now getting this message when i attempt to use SMB:/// browser in nautilus (and similar one in konqueror). Couldn't display "smb:///", because Nautilus cannot contact the SMB master browser. My server is still running samba - my Win2K machine connected to it just fine. Apt vs. Yum vs. up2date?

Okay, I'm going to show my ignorance here... I've decided to try out fedora core 1 when it comes out, on my home server (wish me luck! :) I have been using up2date since RH 8.0, and really enjoy its ease of use and power. However, I don't have the $60 to pay RH for a home up2date subscription. So, I guess I need to switch my update methodology. I've heard of apt-get and yum on this list...can anybody give me a short idea of the differences between them? I just don't have the time to try and research both just now, and need to direct my efforts efficiently. Thanks! Ben

installing programs

Hi, I installed fedora core 0.94. Almost everything seems to work fine. When I try to install new programs with add/remove programs, it asks for CD 1 . I put it in the tray and click OK. The system tells me this is not the right CD. When I mount it manually, everything is OK and it is CD 1. Can someone point me what to do? Marc
