gnumeric bug

Hi, the new gnumeric version in fedore gnumeric-1.2.0-1 is buggy when using functions like hour, minutes and seconds about time strings like 1:30:54. So I downgraded to gnumeric-1.0.12-3 from redhat 9. Has anyone a newer version? -- ~Guenther Fischer

Are there any scripts to generate an updated Kickstart image?

Greetings. When running kickstart using NFS, one has to create a directory where all the RPMs can be found. getfullcomps.py and genhdlist are used to generate the metadata a few data files required for anaconda to install the rpms. What I am looking for are scripts that replaces old RPMs in such a directory with more recent ones and regenerate the data files. The idea is that after downloading the updates everynight, the kickstart image directory is also updated so that no RPMs needs to be upgraded after an install (well, until the next openssh security advisory comes up. :) ) Writting the scripts is easy, but I just want to know if anything already exist before reinventing the wheel. Fedora 0.94 & speedtouch and misc.

Hello all, I downloaded and installed Fedora 0.94 today, in order to test it a while. My config is: - Sony Vayo pcg-grx416g - HD 30 Go (windows-ntfs/vfat-for-storage/linux-part/swap) - Videocard ATI Radeon Mobility 7500, 32 Mo - flat screen 1600x1200 - mouse Logitech Mouseman Traveller (optical mouse) - USB Hub with : Palm Tungsten T pda HP Deskjet 3420 printer Canon Canoscan N1240U Momobay hd 40 Go, divied in 2 vfat partitions The installation process was very cool, no problem at all, french support was ok, 40mn later I had a beautifull Gnome desktop. The first impression was very great! - /etc/fstab I had to edit /etc/fstab in order to add everything excepted CD-Rom. /hda5 (vfat), sda1 (vfat) and sda5(vfat) were not mounted during the installation. I tried to mount /hda1 (ntfs) but after the reboot I could see that the system didn't mount it, for it's a ntfs partition (with Mandrake 9.2, I could at least access some files in /hda1). - adsl connexion (modprobe bug?) I tried to install the speedtouch drivers from Benoit Papillaut. I followed a step-by-step configuration found here: http://christophe.delord.free.fr/en/adsl/redhat.html Everything was ok until I launched the startadsl script in a root console. I still get error messages like "modprobe not found" and "modem_run not found". So I typed "modprobe usbcore" in a root console and got the same kind of error message: "modprobe: command not found". How is it possible??? Did I miss something in the install process? - 3D acceleration? Testing Mandrake 9.2 few days ago, I had the support for 3D acceleration, and so I could launch and play TuxRacer or some OpenGL screensavers. Now in Fedora I guess 3D support is not installed... How to install it? What package should I install? I didn"t try the pda, the printer and the scanner yet. Thanks for your help everyone! (and sorry for my english, I am french) Regards, Kibosh

Graphical Boot (How to turn off?)

Hi I recently attached an external DVD Burner from HP That is a DVD Writer Model number dvd 300e I first simply connected the firewire cable (IEEE 1394) and when the system boots it hangs at probing the Hardware stage. Now since the graphical boot is in the way I can't see what is going on!! So how do I turn this darn graphical boot off? Also, does fedora support IEEE 1394 devices, namely my DVD writer? I next tried the USB cable and the system does indeed boot up at least. What's next? How do I actually burn a DVD via the command line under fedora? Thanks, Ernest L. Williams Jr

soundserver error on KDE startup in fedora 0.94

after going into kde, I get an error reporting that the soundserver had problems with the device /dev/dsp basically - sound doesn't work. the device is a PCI creative soundblaster live 5.1 card. has anyone else experienced problems / know of resolutions for this card? if not - are there any particular sound-related log files I should check to help with troubleshooting, or would it just be /var/log/messages? thanks very much.

acpi - battery monitor

I installed Fedora Core (test) using the acpi=on option (and the resolution=1400x1050 option). Works fine, but has only the most minimalistic acpi support - not even battery status. Am I missing something, or is this support just not yet in the supplied kernel? -- John Pantone Objectech Corporation

XFS Please: Addition to Fedora/RedHat

Hi RedHat/Fedora Maintainers, I would be really really really grateful if you guys could switch on support for the SGI-XFS file system in your redhat/fedora kernels by default like you have an option for reiserfs and jfs in RedHat 9 and other versions for example. The benefits would be great ! If you couldn't do this would you be able to tell me/us why you guys wouldn't be able to do so. That would be great. Thanxs ! There is the problem, I think. Your server IP address is 192.168.0.101 which is on a private piece of the internet, not reachable from the outside. So you must be behind some firewall/router which does NAT (name address translation). To be reachable over the internet, you must find out your real IP number, and perhaps also make sure the NAT firewall or router knows where to forward packages which have your web server port as their destination. Of course, if this firewall or router is outside your control (e.g. at your internet provider) then there is not much you can do about it.
