Ximian Connector
by JDK
Has anyone used Ximian Connector successfully with Fedora Core 1?
There does not appear to be a way to try it our without buying
the license up front. They have a package for RH9, but I was not
sure it would work for Fedora, and don't want to pay $69 to find
out.
Thanks in advance,

diff Fedora Redhat 9
by Harry Hoffman
Hi,
Started out by asking on the wrong list (dev, sorry). So, here's the right list
and a slightly modified question (as I don't think I was specific enough):
Are Fedora and RH 9 the same "EXACT" base with the differences in Fedora being
listed in the Release Notes?
Or are Fedora and RH 9 different, from each other, with an attempt to merge both
into the new Fedora?
Thanks,
Harry

Fedora and gnome panel
by David Miller
I recently upgraded from RedHat 9 to Fedora.
In RedHat 9 I had created drawers on the panel and dropped apps in the
drawers. Worked well for me.
When I installed Fedora all the drawers were there and there was an icon
in the drawer for each app but each of these was another drawer now.
I went through and deleated all the drawers and started over. and added
all the drawers to the panel and placed then placed my apps in the
draweres. They seems to work great. Later I logged out, when I logged
back in all the apps changed back to drawers again.
Frustrated, I thought there must be something that wasn't compatable
between the config files of the old and new. I deleted all directories
starting with .gnome and all others that I thought was related to gnome
config. When I logged in the desktop changed from the Redhat desktop
that I had been using to a different background and had all the default
icons on the panel.
Now I have a clean start. I put one drawer on the panel. Added a
couple of apps to the drawer. They work fine. Logout then login and
the icons are now drawers.
The other problem I have is that I have always had focus change to the
window the cursor is on and it would raise if I clicked in the window.
I am still able to change focus when the cursor is placed in a window
but it seams that I have to click on the title bar to raise the window.
Is there a way to get my old behaivor.

Yes, we have iptables allowing relay only from local IP addresses. Always
good to be reminded, though. For those listening, you can test your server

Virtual Machine Apps
by ibnu@lacare.org
Greetings,
For testing purposes, we need to place Windows 2000 Server, Linux RedHat 9,
RedHat Enterprise Linux 3 AND Fedora 1 on ONE server.
We want to easily switch from one OS to another OS on the same machine
without rebooting.
Our questions are:
1. Does any one know any Virtual Machine Application out there that we can
use (other than VMWare)?
2. Does any one use VMWare for RedHat Enterprise Linux 3 AND Fedora 1?
VMWare does not list RHEL 3 and Fedora 1 as supported OS.
Best regards,
Ibnu.

Is rhythmbox this useless??
by WipeOut
I noticed that the default media player has been changed to Rhythmbox..
So far its proving to be really useless..
Firstly it would not run and crapped out all the time.. So I looked
through the archives and it looked like the way to go was to get the
freshrpms version, so I installed that and all its deps and the mp3 codec..
Now it runs.. Great!!..
Only problem is that it is now playing the tracks to fast which makes
the sound really bad as you can imagine..
Is there a solution to getting it to work properly or is it easier to
just switch back to xmms that to have to fight with this new one..
Later..

Is there a better system monitor applet then one that is included in
