Need help sending Fax

Like i said before, i am new to Linux. It is supposed to be an easy switch now from ugly and dirty Windows. I have some trouble and don't always find what i am looking for. It seem i have to use Kdeprintfax to send fax on my machine. It was not working with mgetty-sendfax so i install (with rpm command) mgetty and mgetty-sendfax package. No errors. Do you know somewhere i can get all the needed information from start to end for making my fax work? Do i need special directories with special right? Where are the configuration files? xmms blocks sound device

Hi I installed Fedora Core 1 today and got bad surprise - et failed to start because xmms was blocking the soundcard. My previous os was freeBSD 5.2 and then i was able to play et and listen to xmms pls give me some advice...

gsview & libgs.so

I'm trying to use gsview as my gui for ghostscript. Ghostscript is the latest stable fedora provided version. I keep getting the error that libgs.so is not found. I've seen from searches that this was a problem with previous redhat versions. Has anyone had trouble with getting gsview to work on fedora? Any solutions? I'm trying to use it with Scribus: http://www.atlantictechsolutions.com/scribusdocs/gsview.html This page suggests changing something in the source RPM. Is this still necessary? How would I go about doing that? --Jason

A stable SMP kernel.

For anyone who is having stability issues with the FC SMP kernel.. I built a SMP kernel (actually my first!!) yesterday using the 2.4.25 source from kernel.org and the .config file from the latest (2.4.22-1.2174) FC kernel.. I didn't change anything.. So far ( 24 hours later ) it has not hung at all and seems to be running quite fast.. I don't know what the difference is between 2.4.22 and 2.4.25 or if the FC dev team have made changes to the source but so far I am happy that I can now use a stable SMP kernel (and the PC powers off when shutdown :) ).. Later..

Problem with partition resizing

Hello list, yesterday I rebooted my machine to change video memory stuff on Bios Setup, and used the downtime to remove a old Freebsd partition, and resize the fedora one. But... (there's always a but) things went wrong. PartitionMagic just stopped in the midlle. I rebooted. After screwing up my grub, I saw it has destroyed my swap, just fixed also. Oh yes, no data loss! But one thing remains: If I fdisk /dev/hda, what I see is /dev/hda1 * 1 25 200781 83 Linux /dev/hda2 26 4804 38387317+ 83 Linux /dev/hda3 4805 4870 530145 82 Linux swap Indicating that the partition resizing was sucessful. BUT, it I use "df", this is said to me: [root@casa surak]# df Filesystem 1K-blocos Usad Dispon. Uso% Montado em /dev/hda2 32756276 27006320 4086024 87% / /dev/hda1 194443 6338 178066 4% /boot none 176388 0 176388 0% /dev/shm Indicating that there was no complete resizing. SELinux in next FC Release

Is the SELinux modifications by the NSA going to be integrated into the next major release of FC, or is RH waiting to release it in their next Enterprise release? Evolution calendar reminder as system tray date popup.

Before installing Fedora on my m/c I had Ximian Desktop on my m/c which has this nice feature of showing evolution calendar reminders as "system tray date popup." By that I mean when I click "date" it shows up the current reminders . Are we going to get this nice feature in Fedora any time soon ? Raghu.
