Dead and silent Mozilla

Hi, all! My Mozilla (1.7.2 fully-patched) seems to have died quietly. It refuses to start, meaning I get a "Starting Web Browser" dialog from htmlview but no browser. Typing mozilla at the command-line also gets me nothing, and no errors are logged to /var/log/messages. Googling yields nothing since I likely can't construct a useful set of search terms in this case, and uninstalling/reinstalling the mozilla packages with rpm makes no difference. Help? How to create a fat32 partition from FC2 ?

Hello, I have previously installed FC2 by giving 80% of my hard drive to Linux. Then, I would like to format the remaining part of the hard drive (i.e. the remaining 20 %) with fat32 system to install a windowsXP. Indeed, the windows XP that was "given" with my laptop refuses to be installed on the remaining part of my hard drive (cf. the remaining 20 %). It says that there are to many partitions !!! And Microsoft refuses (of course !!!!!) to give any advice despite I was obliged to buy a winXP license ! That is why I think a solution would bet to previously format the remaining 20 % of my hard drive from the linux system with the fat32 system before trying to instal windowsXP. making a new FAT32 partition...?

hello, i have 40 GB of unused, unpartitioned hard drive space. how can i partition it as FAT32 (or VFAT, which is better?) and format it? i dual boot winxp and FC2 and i ultimately want this partition to be my /home dir in FC2 and also show up in winxp as my D: drive or something. also, is there a better format that is both usable by linux and windows? i know linux can't write to NTFS very well, but can windows handle ext3 well? thanks for the help.

How Can I Improve Linux Speed

In order to acquire some self education and to experiment with Linux, I loaded the Gnome 2.0 Fedora Linux release onto an old 200Mhz 64K laptop. The laptop previously had Windows 2K installed. The laptop performed reasonably using W2k and it was an acceptable machine for small applications (spreadsheet, word processing, etc). The Fedora Linux O/S is very slow, it is unusable for any application. Is there something wrong, should Fedora be as fast as W2K? Thanks for any help. lpd - printing

Maybe a silly question but I've just moved to fedora from rh8. I have a server, no x, just text and did not install cups. I use a raw print queue in printcap with lp and it's works great. But lp doesn't seem to exist in fedora, I installed cups think it might provide lp but it didn't. What (if any?) rpm contains the lp daemon?

Well, my research into LDAP for authentication is showing GREAT benefits over NIS, and I have a third machine (for the home) installing upstairs as I type this. This one's delay due to a dirty CDROM, and I have to go 'hit' it once in a while. An FTP install would probably be more accurate, if the bandwidth is available. I'm curious about repositories; since these could be massive groups of PCs (say, hundreds or thousands) it should make sense to maintain a separate repo (yum, presumably) on a server somewhere. My question is, with all the questions about repo stability and such, what's the best way to go about it, strategically? Any Idea well I would think it has to do with the same bug affecting CD Burning becuase of the read write access for the CDs as mountted isos. Thats only a guess but the only thing I can think of. This did the trick :-) Changed group owner to apache (which is the user and group my apache runs under) Did'nt find any user/group in the php.conf file so it looks like it using the same user as the web server - like you said. Yang, I think you're missing Scot's point. It's not about difficulty, it's about discoverability. Someone who has FC on a server that has quite long uptimes might be mystified as to why the clock is completely inaccurate despite their running ntpd because they didn't realise that restarting iptables had firewalled it off. I myself am happy for services to "punch holes" through the firewall when they start up as long as iptables is somehow made aware of this fact, so that if it has to be restarted it doesn't suddenly firewall all those services off. I have a 2.4 kernel system<b! r>that's been running smoothly for several years, but I have never been able to get the V2 Symbios driver to work with it (dual Sym53C1010/33 controller). I haven't moved up to Fedora because of it. And yes I've logged a bug report, but haven't seen any movement. I don't know if this is a driver problem or a hardware problem that the old driver ignored/worked around. I tend to believe the former. I guess the ntp service start scripts was designed to make life easier but created a situation where the user can lose control when trying to customize. As to the original post by Scott, I agree, It is a bug that there isn't a hook in IPTABLES to check for what services needs to punch holes when restarted. Mainly because they scripted in the service startup scripts to do so. Otherwise, this is just a preference issue.
