seek pointer to howto install disk drivers during installation

I have a supermicro system with this Adaptec HostRAID (not my idea). I'm trying to install FC3 or FC4, but they do not have drivers. I have downloaded the drivers, but I don't know exactly how to go through the install process. I understand that I'll have to load the drivers (aar81xx...) w/ insmod durint the anaconda build and then do a mkinitrd for the install, but do not know the exact procedure. I've googled for it, but not found anything particularly helpful. is there a doc that details the procedure? Thanks Bob

Problem with making kpacman

RE: playing audio CDs on FC4

Have you plugged the cd drive into the input on the sound card. Windows can play music without this cable, but I'm not sure if Linux can. Hi list Does anyone know of a program that can directly connect a Linux box to a windoze box so that we can chat? Privacy is one thing, the other is with normal instant messengers, all clients are dependant on the server. If the server is overloaded or unavailable, it doesn't work. By stateless I actually meant that it doesn't rely on a constant connection, like if for instance it uses the UDP protocol to send messages and the TCP to send acks or something? Anyone know of such a beast? Automatic email relay agent?

Hi, Is there any program that can function as "automatic email relay" agent? Basically, I stop all email relay in my fc3 and fc4 systems and allow only some ip address range to relay emails. This way, my users in our subnet and some users at home (who's ip addresses are known) can use outlook etc. to send emails. The problem is that sometimes, some users travel to other cities and they still want to use outlook to send emails. Since I don't know thoses ip addresses, they will get "email relay error". Is there any program that can temporarily add those ip addresses to the allowed list for email relay for the users with correct password, but not for other strangers, for some days, then later remove it? I remember somebody mentioned such package, but never used it and don't know if it works under fc3, fc4 with selinux enforced. I appreciate any help! Hongwei Li

Volume control is missing in KDE

Hello all! There is two problem happened on me. First is two the trash bin appeared on the desktop one is for Gnome and another is for KDE, how to combine it into one ? Updated Kernel Compilation Tutorial

Hello everyone, I've updated this tutorial on how to build a custom Fedora kernel RPM. http://crab-lab.zool.ohiou.edu/kevin/kernel-compilation-tutorial-en/steps.h… Since these instructions don't work exactly with recent kernel source rpms, I figured out how to make the process work. Graphic problems on new installation of FC4

I just replaced Win98 with Fedora Core 4 on a friends' computer: AMD 550, 128MB RAM. Now, he can work for a limited amount of time (between 20-150 minutes), then the computer gets stuck. Not even the mouse works. He can, however, switch to a console with CTR-ALT-F1. When restarted, there is no graphical mode, only console. If he lets the computer sit for a few hours, he can boot up a graphical screen, but after some time the problem reoccurs. Nothing in the computer (open case) seems unusually hot, which was my first thought. Any ideas on where to look? Thank you.
