firefox back/forward icons disappeared
by Skunk Worx
on a couple of my machines the firefox icons in the upper left of the UI
(for Back/Forward) have disappeared. All i get are skinny widgets with
the drop-down arrow--no left/right icons in the widgets.
any idea what would cause this? i'll try yum remove/install firefox and
report back if i see no replies...
Thanks,

Lazy gnome panel
by Parameshwara Bhat
Dear list,
I observe gnome panel has become a littel unresponsive since the last
update(2.8 to 2.10 - I do not remember when)
After initial login and after a delay in use, gnome panel menus take a few
clicks before responding. I hoped it would go in upgrade.I observed the
same behaviour in gnome 2.12 on suse10.But when I tried Ubuntu live cd
using gnome 2.12, panel was felt as responsive as ever.It appears,it is
something in the FC ( Suse ) core that causes this.
Anybody else has observed this?
I am running FC4 with all the latest Updates applied on a piii
machine.Otherwise my system is stable and fine.

Evolution importing certificates?
by Patrick
Hi all,
I'm trying to setup a secure mail environment with Postfix, Dovecot and
Evolution using TLS & SMTP AUTH for sending and receiving email. Made
all the certificates and configs and seem to have it working mostly. The
problem is that Evolution requires me to accept the certificates each
time I start it up. I assume that I need to import one or more of the
certificates I made into Evolution. Anyone have an idea which ones?
Thanks and happy holidays!
Regards,
Patrick

Re: GNome Un-install?
by Ali Helmy
I did the ($ yum groupremove "GNOME...etc) command, but it also
removed some weird stuff along... it removed for example,
openoffice.org writer, kdeadmin, openoffice.org langpacks and
others...
why the hell did that happen?

Update of Fedora Core 2 to Fedora Core 4 ended abnormally :-(
by alexander.beck-ratzka
Hello list,
I've tried to update my Fedora Core 2 partition to Fedora Core 4, but the
update failed with the message: "Update ended abnormally".
After this message all deveices have been unmounted, to enable a stop of the
computer. I am happy about the fact that I can still work with my PC, but I
assume that was nothing else then great luck!!!
Because I really don't know why this update has failed, I want to know, where
I can find more informations about the failed update. Does anyone know, where
such a logfile is?
Regards

updates - which files to grab
by Bob Hartung
Hi all,
Perhaps a dumb question but here goes:
The FC4 updates lists the following, as an example:
perl-5.8.6-16.fc4.i386.rpm
perl-5.8.6-18.i386.rpm
perl-5.8.6-22.i386.rpm
While it is clear that 5.8.6-22 supersedes 5.8.6-18, do both
supersede 5.8.6-16.fc4. In other words, do I simply ignore the .fc4
addition to the file naming?
Thanks and a Merry Christmas to all.
