I was going to say the same thing, just make sure A allows C to access
the network, and that A is on for C to connect.

General routing question?
by Phil
Fedora Core 2
I have COMPUTER A on NETWORK A that has a route to NETWORK B using
COMPUTER D as the gateway
Now if I I have COMPUTER C on NETWORK A has a route to NETWORK B and
uses COMPUTER A as the gateway will COMPUTER C be able to ping a
computer on NETWORK B?

RH9 upgrade to FC3 fails with I2O ZCR raid
by Eric Wagar
I attempted to upgrade my RH9 (2.4.20-37.9) system to FC3 (2.6.9 I
believe is the release on the CDs).
I was able to get into Anaconda (by adding the I2O Block driver at the
"add Driver" screen) and to the section where I chose either a Fresh
install or an upgrade.
The first time I reached that point, the upgrade portion specified the
hdb (sdb) drive, which is my "backup" drive. The drive I need to
upgrade is hda (sda). I then power cycled the system and removed the
sdb drive to make sure nothing on that drive is touched.
I reached the same Fresh or Upgrade point, and this time the hda
(/dev/i2o/hda8) drive showed properly. I chose upgrade, and this error
appears:
Error mounting device sda8 as /: No such file or directory
This most likely means this partition has not been formatted.
Press OK to reboot your system.
The only action at this point is to push the "OK" button for the reboot.
I select "OK" and reboot to get back to the Fresh or Upgrade point, and
chose Fresh this time. I did verify that the partitions shown are
hda{1-8}, with all sizes correct but no mount points specified.
I did not go any further.
The system has a 2010S ZCR Adaptec card with 2x36G RAID1 config, and a
36G standalone drive (so three cards). It is a SuperMicro 6023P-8R with
2x2.4G Xeon and 1G RAM.
Since FC3 disk has 2.6.9, I didn't put the i2o_block into the CD's
because the i2o webpage shows that it is already in the 2.6.8. (I do
see that some people have posted on the i2o website that they have had
successful installs.)
Currently the system is up with RH9 still on it. I'd like to get FC3+
installed, but I can't seem to figure out what piece I am missing.
Any one give me some pointers? Are there any alternatives to getting
FC3+ installed? Unfortunately, don't look for immediate trial, as this
system is the only one I have. I don't have a test system with the same
config. Why?!, that'd be too easy! :)
Thanks

RE: run process in startup
by Leinier Cruz Salfran
Hola.
Debieras usar este truco para crear una inicialización de cualquier programa que corrar como un demonio en tu sistema al inicio del mismo.
Pasos a seguir:
#! /bin/sh
# Script de inicio para el programa $NOMBREPROGRAMA
#
# chkconfig: 2345 70 40
# description: Script de inicio para el programa $NOMBREPROGRAMA
#
# Fuente de la libreria de funciones.
. /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions
prog="jabberd..."
programa="/usr/bin/jabberd"
argumentos="-b"
archivolock="/var/lock/subsys/jabberd"
start() {
echo -n $"Iniciando $prog"
daemon $programa $argumentos
RETVAL=$?
[ $RETVAL = 0 ] && touch $archivolock
echo
return $RETVAL
}
stop() {
echo -n $"Parando $prog"
killproc $programa
RETVAL=$?
if [ $RETVAL -eq 0 ]; then
success " "
rm -f $archivolock
else
failure " "
fi
echo
return $RETVAL
}
case "$1" in
start)
start
;;
stop)
stop
;;
restart)
stop
start
;;
*)
echo $"Uso: $0 {start|stop|restart}"
exit 1
esac
exit $RETVAL
Cordialmente, Leinier Cruz Salfran.

by bruce
hi...
i'm integrating php/mysql into apache. can anybody tell me if it's possible
to have a mysql v.4.1.3beta client version from doing a php4 install, or do
i have to go php5 to get beyond the mysql v.3.23.58 client.
i've tried to use the FC3 php4.3.9 rpms with no luck. i'm also using the
mysql4.1.12 server/client...

CD Device Handler???
by Morgan Read
Hi,
In my gnome login (not others) the little CD icon (named "CD Device
Handler") fails to show up.
Is this anything other than a pretty picture? How can I find out what's
not happening, if anything, and make it happen?
If it is only pretty picture, how can I get it back anyway? - 'cause I
like pretty pictures!
Thanks all.
Regards,
Morgan.

re: tcp_wrappers_7.6
by Jude DaShiell
I was told to be careful of what linux distros supply as tcp_wrappers
since some of them supply cut down versions. I'll check out what's here
and find out if the full system was already supplied in a few minutes.

A loud ckunking sound huh..... sounds like the drive is dead. I haven't heard
a sound like that since the old seagate st-251. I don't expect that you will
be able to get anything off the drive at this point unless you want to spend
some big bucks to a data recovery service. reminds one to make backups on a
regular basis, which I do hop you have done.

I have a Win ME partition, 2 gig, and two Fedora Core partitions, 3 gig
and 5 gig. When I first used Fedora, I had windows on a 7 gig drive and
used my backup D drive for FedC1. I have read that there is a disk
partitioning program that will split your windows, or any partition,
for you. I think FedCores disks that have DiskDruid are able to do the
same thing. Don't brood over this to much because I have used Linux for
only one and a half months...
