Logitech wireless MX Duo not recognised on first boot
by David Niemi
I have a Logitech wireless MX Duo that worked fine with FC3. I purchased this after I had installed and setup FC 3 and after
playing around with the connects a few times it worked great.
Now I installed FC4 as a fresh install and everything worked during the Anaconda install, keyboard and mouse. When I reboot,
nothing is recognised and I need to shutdown the PC by single push of the power button so that FC3 shuts down normally.
I have gone through the connect procedure numerous times but the mouse never works. I have the mouse and keyboard connected
to the PS2 connectors directly (use a KVM also, but not at the moment). I do not want to use the USB connectors, even to get
it going as I don't want to possibly be stuck using that.
USing Rescue I checked the xorg.conf file and everything seems fine in there when I compare to a different machine (different
mouse & keboard through a KVM)
Any ideas on how to get things working?

<link> not clickable from text document
by Thufir
I have many, many, many links like:
http://www.foo.com/
http://www.bar.com/
with one per line, in a text file. is there a simple way to convert that to
<a href="http://www.foo.com/">foo</a>
or something similar, so that the links are "clickable" in mozilla?
It's not a html question per se, or maybe it is, I dunno :)
I imagine that a script could do it, but I don't know how to write a
script (at least nothing like that).
Any thoughts?
Actually, I always found it annoying that microsoft word makes links
clickable whether you want that or not. Hey, maybe I found a use for
that "feature" :)
Thanks,
Thufir

I do not see an error in the strace log either. But the error occured
during stracing?
Is SElinux active on your host? Please check /var/log/messages for audit
/ avc messages. One google hit speaks about something wrong with
kdeinit. You could try and booting with "enforcing=0" as kernel
parameter to test with SELinux in permissive mode. If that bring us not
a step further, then create a new user and check whether with this one
running Kmail the same happens. You can delete this test user and his
files after the test run.

Making Harddrive Bootable
by Ed Warner
Hi,
I have spent the better part of yesterday reading,
searching and trying; without any luck.
I have a single IDE drive that I have transfered the
image to a Raid 1 array sitting on a 3Ware 8006 card.
I want to remove the IDE drive, but I can not figure
out how to make this mirror array bootable.
Please help.
Thanks,

audit and RTC
by SternData
When shutting down or starting up, it appears SELinux is blocking access
to the real time clock:
audit(1122815819.197:2): avc: denied { create } for pid=1780
comm="hwclock" scontext=system_u:system_r:hwclock_t
tcontext=system_u:system_r:hwclock_t tclass=netlink_audit_socket
How do I enable it? It seems to have started with the last selinux
targeted policy update.

No sound with AC97 soundcard/FC4/AC'97/snd-intel8x0 module
by Erik Hemdal
I think I'm stumped and would appreciate ideas on where to turn.
system-config-soundcard properly finds my Intel soundcard, but the test
sound does not play. I have the same symptoms as posted by Gerrit Holl
on July 5, but what worked for him isn't working for me.
Tried the following, with no joy --
Running system-config-soundcard
turning up all volumes in alsamixer
blacklisting snd-intel8x0m modem sound driver.
rmmod snd-intel8x0 and modprobe snd-intel8x0 (install and remove)
I've gone so far as to remove the soundcard entry
in /etc/sysconfig/hwconf and removing the entries in /etc/modprobe.conf
to try to get the card found again by kudzu and reconfigured. Based on
examples I've seen in Google, I think my modprobe.conf was incomplete
coming out of the installation.
I'm fairly confident that my modprobe.conf is in a bad state, but I have
not found a good sample for this card (most of the HOWTOs I've seen give
examples for SoundBlaster cards). I'm also not sure how modprobe.conf
could go wrong from a clean install.
This card works fine under Windows AND worked fine under FC3.
For what it's worth, the display in system-config-soundcard is different
now than under FC3. Now the Vendor is shown as 'Intel' and the
Model is shown as 'Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M)
AC'97 Audio Controller'
I'd appreciate any ideas on what to try, or even a look at a working
modprobe.conf with this card working.
Thanks for any help. Erik
