snmp versus /proc

I've been looking (not very hard) at RRD (round-robin database), and I notice that several examples displaying things like memory usage use snmp (more precisely snmpwalk) to gather the information. I'm just wondering if this still makes sense. How to unpack DVD movie to edit it's video/sound?

I wrote recently, but did get any respond, trying to rewrite another way... I have a DVD movie, that needs to be edited: video and sound. Thus the question is: what software i should use to unpack from its format to the format that will be operable for the video audio processing as the next step? Mailing List software

Hi all. I have to send the exact asme email to 16 people, with each one thinking that he is the only recipricant. Until now, i had been opening new windows in kmail and copying-pasting the text into each one! But I think that I need mailing list software. Googleing for "mailing list software linux" gives me 23 million linux mailing lists, but no software! Is there a 'standard' mailing list program that I should know about? I don't have a webserver installed on this machine, though if that is nessaccary I would not mind installing one. It is a AMD 1.2 ghz box with KDE on FC4. Thanks! SLowing Down with kernel 2.6.12-1.1372_FC3

Hi all, Has anyone else experinced that Firefox slows down with the 2.6.12-1.1372_FC3 kernel? In Opera things are working fine and fast, is this a bug, or is it something on my machine? Thanks

RHN subscription

cups/system-config-printer ppd file - removing?

Hi Is it possible to remove ppd files after they have been imported with system-config-printer - i.e. remove them from the list of printers that one sees in system-config-printer? Or, in other words, where is the information that system-config-printer is using to generate the list of printers? Cheers, Jonathan

I think I'm finally going to ditch my Radeon in favor of an nVidia card. Can someone recommend an nvidia card comparable to my Radeon 9800 that plays nice with FC4? Thanks

synaptics driver not loaded

How do I knopw for sure the synaptics driver is loaded. I suspect it is not loading in my xorg.conf file. The package is loaded : # rpm -qa | grep synaptics synaptics-0.13.5-5

A really clean text editor

Hi all, I run a website at http://linux2.arinet.org. Usually I type the article in a text editor first, and then copy paste it into the website. In MS Winblowzland I use Editplus to type the article and when I paste it into the website, the text runs smoothly according to the format in the website. Now, I use kate, kwrite, but it seems that when I paste it into the website, it retains the format from kate/kwrite. For example, the dynamic wrap doesnt work, so if I have a long sentence, the website will display it as 1 (one) line instead of wrapping it according to the page width. When I view the HTML source, it retains the format from kate/kwrite, because it's said something like "made with Kate" Seems like a compatibility issue. Is there anything I can do about it? Is there any a really clean text editor?
