New problems with printing in FC5
by Antonio M
I filed this bug, as I thought that it was connected only to The Gimp
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=208016
But this morning, while I was doing some homework for my son,
preparing an Openoffice Writer document that included 11 pages from
Sane scanning, I got a surprise: I could not print this document as my
printer started flashing (green, red lights) and stopped. If I restart
cups I can print any other "small" document. I converted also this
writer document to PDF and fired Acrobat to print: no way.
I am using a Samsung laser printer with gdi driver...CUPS test work
fine, printer from firefox is o.k. but also from any other application
with small files.
Not sure but it might be connected to latest releases of Cups

fedora core 4: no fd0u1680?
by fedoralist@subtropolix.org
I've been using core 4 for quite some time now and this is the first
time i've had to think about device nodes. I'd like to mount a floppy
that's formatted to 1680 density but can't figure out how the device
nodes work. Googling has gotten me nowhere (except a lot of Japanese
pages--apparently this format is popular there).
For starters, there's no fd0u1680. And what are /dev/fd/[0,1,2,3] for?
Does this have something to do with Udev? I tried and failed to
understand how that works (or, really, what it is).
I have another box i can use in the mean time, but any pointers would be
very much appreciated.

Problems compiling my driver for the Realtek 8168-networkcard in FC 5
by Bart De Soete
Hi people,
I'm still having problems compiling the driver for my Realtek
8168-networkcard on my laptop.
Fedora 5 doesn't recognize it automatically, but Realtek makes it possible
on their website to download een Linux driver for the networkcard.
It's a tarball that I had to unzip and compile as superusern but there are
erros during the compilationprogress.
Yesterday, someone on Fedora-list gave me the advice to install kernel-devel
package. Eventually I did that, bu I still receive the same errors.
Can somebody help me, please? Thanks!

pdf2ps conversion problem
by Tony Crouch
Hi All,
I have recently tried converting some pdf files to ps and have noticed a
bizarre error in the ps version after conversion.
The content (i.e. the writing) is an accurate conversion but the paper
size and document layout is completely different.
I have uploaded an example coversion at the following web address:
PDF (this is how the ps should look)
http://www-personal.une.edu.au/~acrouch2/ass5.pdf
and the
PS
http://www-personal.une.edu.au/~acrouch2/ass5.ps
Was wondering if someone might be able to let me know what I did wrong
or whether its a pdf2ps command problem.
Thanks heaps.
All the best.
Cheers,
Tony Crouch

another package error with yum
by Scott Berry
Hello there,
I am having removing the following package with yum. Any ideas how to remove this package or set it so it doesn't update?
Error: Missing Dependency: stax-bea is needed by package dom4j
Looks like dom4j isn't even around.
