free disk space for lvm volumes using df ?
by Ingo Jochim
Hi all,
via script I like to know how much free disk space is on each partition
in my system.
This works well with normal partitions.
df /partition | grep ^/ | tr -s [:blank:] " " | cut -d " " -f4
But on LVM volumes the output of "df" is totally different.
The name of a volume and the size are in different lines.
I have a mixture of normal partitions and LVM. That makes it more difficult.
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-root.fs
4983392 1395340 3330824 30% /
/dev/hda1 101086 10052 85815 11% /boot
/dev/shm 257280 0 257280 0% /dev/shm
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-home.fs
16854376 77892 15906496 1% /home
Has anybody an idea for that ?

pptp in fedora core 3
by Dan Track
Hi
Does anyone know of a way to get teh pptp module support into
iptables. I looked at the relevant link in netfilter, but the note
says won't work on kernel>2.6.10. Any ideas on how to accomplish this.
Also I right in understanding pptp support in iptables is present in
fedora core 4, or is this a rumour?
Thanks

Strange yum message.
by Erik P. Olsen
I get quite often the following message when running yum update on my
FC4:
/sbin/ldconfig: libraries libsane.so.1.0.16 and libsane.so.1.0.17 in
directory /usr/lib have same soname but different type.
What is it and should I be concerned?

How to search and replace
by Dan Track
Hi
I thought I'd ask this here as you guys helped me setup mrtg :)
I've got the following pattern in a text file in linux.
Target[description1].1.3.4.6.5.3.:string@10.11.8.10
Directory[description1]: server1
Target[description2].1.3.4.6.4.9.:string@10.17.5.24
Directory[description2]: server2
What I would like to do is replace the ip of each with the following
value of "Directory". So for example I would like
Target[description1].1.3.4.6.5.3.:string@10.11.8.10 to become
Target[description1].1.3.4.6.5.3.:string@server1.example.com
How can I accomplish this using either C,perl, sed or awk
Thanks

landscape from OO Calc in FC4?
by Jack Howarth
Has anyone managed to get the OpenOffice Calc application to
print out a table in landscape mode to a postscript printer? On my
Fedora Core 4 box when I select the Printer Setup menu, click the
Properties button for the selected printer in the Printer Setup dialog
and then select landscape orientation, I find that neither the Print...
nor Print Preview... commands produce a landscape image on the page.
I have tried this several postscript printers with the same results.
Thanks in advance for any hints.

by Gene Heskett
Greetings eveybody;

megabyte of New not SYN messages in my firewalls logs.
None of the internet whois database's have an entry for that address
that I've been able to lookup.

People having trouble with vz bouncing email to me should add the word
'online' between the 'verizon', and the dot which bypasses vz's
stupid bounce rules. I do use spamassassin too. :-)
