MySpace Group for Fedora Users and Contributors
by Patrick W. Barnes
I know that many of our users, particularly in our younger user base, are
members of the MySpace community. There have been a couple of attempts at
forming groups in support of Fedora, but they have not been well-maintained.
As such, I have formed a new group on MySpace in support of Fedora.
http://groups.myspace.com/fedoraproject
Note that this group is not officially endorsed by the Fedora Project, but as
a strong Fedora Project contributor, I am prepared to maintain it and see
that it lives up to the standards that are highly regarded in the Fedora
Community.
MySpace has been the focus of some controversy due to the way that some young
people use it. I believe that one important aspect of such massive social
networking services is providing positive venues to outweigh the potentially
negative materials. I hope that this group can be one small part of that.
If you are a Fedora user or contributor and a MySpace member, please consider
signing up for this new group and showing your support for the Fedora Project
while interacting with one segment of our community at the same time.
You might also be interested in our Frappr group, which shows where Fedora's
users and contributors are scattered throughout the world.

[PHILOSOPHY] Stability and Release Schedules
by John Wendel
Here's your chance to slap me up side of the head!
Reading the Debian thread (and others) has made me wonder why Fedora
has to have "releases" at all. Why not have a continuously evolving
distribution? One would start by downloading an "installer system"
that would then use the existing mechanisms (yum, whatever) to update
itself. From this point on, why would one need "releases"? Just keep
releasing updates and new packages exactly as things are done now.
I know there must be something wrong with this scenario; would someone
like to hit me with a clue stick.
Regards,
John

selinux is stopping flashplayer, need magic incantation to fix its perms
by Gene Heskett
Greetings from a motel room in the UP of MI.
2 problems, first I've not had the missus shut down fetchmail yet at
home, so there's about a 40% chance the home box will catch and delete a
reply, so if you can send if twice with a few seconds between the sends,
I'll stand a much better chance of getting the reply. I'll fix that
later tonight once I know this is going to work.
1. See the subject, I thought I'd printed that out and brought it along
but apparently not. My bad. :(
2. How can I shut the *&%%$ touchpad off on this HP lappy, I have a blue
tooth mouse plugged in too, but any time my hand gets anywhere near this
pad, I have NDI where the next character I type might wind up. Lets
just say the results can be interesting...

Mounting ntfs filesystem on FC5
by Ruben Artavia
Hi everybody,
I'm new using FC and I installed version 5 last saturday on my laptop in a second partition.
When I try to mount my first windows partition, I received an error that told me that the mount command don't knowor understand ntfs type.
I need to know it is possible to mount this filesystem's type?
If I need to install aditional package?
Thanks in advance
Ruben

Screen resolution & laptop
by Jamie Bohr
I have a Dell M70 (great system) laptop and a Dell LCD display. I am having
problems with display resolutions and getting the perfect setup.
Can some one tell me if I can do the following?
I would like to use the both displays when I have the laptop docked, the
windows users at work can do it so I would like to as well. Also when the
laptop is not
docked will it think there is a second display?
