Stopping linux/KDE from automounting usb drives
by Dan Smith
Hello,
Is there any way to stop fedora/kde from mounting USB drives as soon as they are plugged in?
I know I can stop the behavoir for a single drive, but I would like to stop it for anything that is plugged into the system.
Thanks,

Similar to Gtktalog, but also DVD oriented
by Paul Smith
Dear All
I was used to Gtktalog to manage my CDs. However, with the advent of
DVDs, Gtktalog is no more suitable to me, as it does not deal with
DVDs. Is there some program similar to Gtktalog able to manage data
DVDs?
Thanks in advance,
Paul

compiz on fc5
by Kazimieras Vaina
Hi,
I found an unofficial yum repo with xgl and compiz:
http://users.telenet.be/quenta/repo/
I installed all packages from there, but Xgl failed to start. It says
that "function not implemented" or something like that. I suspect that
mesa packages shipped in fc5 are not compatible with xgl...
Anybody using this repo ? I'm too lazy to compile it from source.

OpenGL problems
by Ali Helmy
Hey lads,
I need to ask some help of you... here's my dilemma:
I wanted to install the TuxRacer <http://tuxracer.sourceforge.net/> game, so
i downloaded the .tar.gz file, and unpacked... on running ./configure
though, i got the following message:
configure: error: Your copy of glx.h is out of date. You can get a more
recent copy from the latest Mesa distribution (http://mesa3d.sourceforge.net
).
So, I strolled over to mesa3d and downloaded their latest installed library
pack... then when trying to install it by make install, i got:
mkdir ${INCLUDE_DIR}
mkdir: cannot create directory `/usr/local/include': File exists
mkdir ${INCLUDE_DIR}/GL
mkdir: cannot create directory `/usr/local/include/GL': File exists
mkdir ${INCLUDE_DIR}/GLES
mkdir: cannot create directory `/usr/local/include/GLES': File exists
mkdir ${LIB_DIR}
mkdir: cannot create directory `/usr/local/lib': File exists
cp -f ${TOP}/include/GL/*.h ${INCLUDE_DIR}/GL
cp -f ${TOP}/src/glw/*.h ${INCLUDE_DIR}/GL
# NOT YET: cp -f ${TOP}/include/GLES/*.h ${INCLUDE_DIR}/GLES
cp ${CP_FLAGS} ${TOP}/lib*/lib* ${LIB_DIR}
echo "Done."
Done.
Now, when i try and install tuxracer, i get the same message of the
out-dated glx header... so, i don't really know what to do...
Ideas?

kdesktop_lock won't authenticate against AD
by Marcelo Magno T. Sales
Hi,
My FC5 / KDE box is part of a Windows 2000 domain. I've configured it to
authenticate login credentials against Active Directory and it's working
well. However, when I lock the desktop (manually or via password protected
screen saver), I can not unlock it if the logged in user is an Active
Directory user.
kdesktop_lock fails with the following message:
"Cannot unlock the session because the authentication system feiled to work;
you must kill kdesktop_lock (pid_of_process) manually"
A local user can unlock the desktop without problems.
Any idea about what may be causing this?
Here is may pam configuration for kcheckpass (/etc/pam.d/kcheckpass):
#%PAM-1.0
auth sufficient pam_timestamp.so
auth include system-auth
account required pam_nologin.so
account include system-auth
password include system-auth
session include system-auth
session required pam_loginuid.so
session optional pam_timestamp.so
session optional pam_selinux.so
session optional pam_console.so
Also, /usr/bin/kcheckpass permisions are set as 4755.
Thanks,
Marcelo

xcalc missing?
by Joe Klemmer
Anyone know where xcalc went off to? It was on my FC4 install but it's
disappeared since the (funky) FC5 update. I don't know if it's really
not there or if I fraged it doing the upgrade.

latest updates don't boot
by Tom Horsley
I haven't had time to do much investigation on this yet, but last night I genned FC5
from the DVD, it came up OK, then I downloaded all the latest updates which
got me to 2.6.17-1.2157 and now the boot never seems to finish - it just stops
printing messages really early (possibly around the time it normally switches
to the graphical boot which I hadn't yet turned off). The disk doesn't seem to
be running anymore and a reasonable amount of waiting didn't change anything.
It isn't totally frozen - I can still hit return, and the cursor moves down one line,
and Ctrl-Alt-Del reboots it.
Sound familiar to anyone?
I plan to boot in rescue mode and set the runlevel to 3 and turn off the graphical
boot and see if there is anything useful laying around in dmesg or the X log.
Anything else be good to poke?
This is on a asus P4C800-E with the disk on the onboard promise controller
(the faster intel sata ports are already used up with another OS).
