How do you install truetype fonts on FC5? I can't find where they go. Thanks! -Steven

Dear listers: I want to make a presentation using a projector. I have FC5, installed in a Dell Inspiron 6000. I have tried configuring the double monitor facility, and connecting a PC monitor to my laptop (both, while the computer is on, and turning on the computer with the monitor attached to it), and I have had no success. I have also tried by configuring single monitor in my FC5 installation, and turning on the computer with the monitor attached to it. Same results. Finally I have naively tried to use the Fn+F8 key combination (to redirect the output of the display in Windows). None of the previously stated tries worked. Does some one of you know how to do this? Apple wireless BT keyboard: how to enable those special keys?

The Apple bluetooth keyboard works just beautifully with Fedora and the hidd daemon. Most keys work but unfortunately some of the special keys don't even seem to emit a key code (tested with xev). The keys F13-F16 and Volume up, Volume down, mute and eject do not work. I modified the XkbModel in xorg.conf to "power_g5" and tried xmodmap as suggested on the net but no go. Any idea how can I enable those extra keys? Thanks, Jurgen

hi , I am writing a script that will first check for the update and then install the latest version by downloading it and building it from source. now my question is this, is there any way that in BASH i get to know about the latest version i.e. software is p3scan and the latest version is 2.3 now how to know about that through bash ??? help me out Regards Waqas

software raid drive failed, please provide step bu step to rebuild

I have/had a software raid running and sdc drive failed. I got a replacement drive today and installed it. My only experience with set partitions and raids in during initail setup. I could not fdisk the new drive because i guess it wasn't reconized so I rebooted. Now I can reach the drive via fdisk but I have made more problems now (no swap now) and I'm not sure the steps to rebuild. Background: I have a FC3 with a software raid. I have 3 SCSI 18gb hard drives If I recall this how I set it up md0 /boot 100MB raid 1 sda, sdb and sdc as spare md1 /swp 768MB raid 0 sda, sdb, sdc md2 / ext3 33GB raid 5 sda, sdb, sdc Can someone please help?

Firefox closes without warning

Hi, I am trying to visit this site: http://www.dluxproductions.com/webcandy/ but before page loads, firefox closes without any notice. I can visit this site from windows (firefox). I have latest firefox 1.5.04 & flash installed and working perfectly with other flashed based sites. Is there something wrong with fedora version or missing plugin? Thanks

KMix volume sliders

I have an Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 in my system running FC5. In KMix, everything seems to fall under the PCM (and Master) volume sliders. How can I fix it so that when I'm playing MIDI files it routes through the correct volume slider (whichever that might be) and when I'm playing MP3, it goes through the PCM one? Looking at all the KMix channels available to me, I have: Wave Center, Wave LFE, Wave Surround, Master, Headphone, Bass, Treble (which incidentally don't do anything either one), 3D Control Sigmatel - Depth, PCM, Center, LFE, PC Speaker, and AC97. Under the Input tab there's a whole slew of sliders, and under Switches tab there are a few more. Everything seems to get routed through the PCM channel and I can control volume using that slider and the Master volume slider. When I used this card under WinXP, I was able to get MIDI through the MIDI channel (or Synth), MP3/Wave through a separate one, and the PC speaker through a different one, so I could individually control each one. Is this possible under unix?
