FC5: Asus P5-B AHCI (sata) not working with kernel 2.6.17-1.2174smp but fine with 2.6.15-1.2054smp
by Rainer Traut
Hi,
the problem is on our new home pc, specs:
Intel Core2 Duo 6600, 2GB RAM, 300GB SATA AHCI Mode
Asus P5-B motherboard,latest bios, Intel ICH8R
The system boots fine with the old initial kernel but panics after
running a full update.
As I recall here's the console output:
PCI: Bios Bug: MCFG is not E820 reserved
PCI: Not using MMCONFIG
nash...
(ata1) timed out after 30seconds
...
kernel panic
The hd light is flashing slowly...
So I believe there's something broken with ahci support in later kernels.
Thx for any help

Intel 945 graphics and FC5? only VESA?
by Mike Zingale
I have a Thinkpad X60, which has an Intel 945 graphics chip. I
noticed that FC 5 sets this up with the VESA driver -- is there not
support for this chip in X.org? I thought that there was support
through the new 965 chip. Is this something that is only in 7.1
perhaps?
I'm happy to wait a month for FC 6 if it supports this chip well.

VDQ : Download, View & Print
by Beartooth
At
http://www.90thdivisionassoc.org/90thDivisionFolders/90thhistorybook/hist...
is a history available for individual download and printing. Under FC5, I
can download *something* (a 731 byte file -- probably just a link -- for a
123-page whole book!) by right-clicking on the link with Opera, Epiphany,
or Galeon. But I can't figure out how to download the whole text. Am I
missing something obvious here??

Fonts Gone Wild
by Ric Moore
Is it just me or has anyone else seen the default font change over night
to something that looks like Garbage_Scow TrueType? It's REALLY pitiful
looking and shot full of microscopic holes with crinkly looking edges.
Just what font is considered the defacto (spell checker hates this one!)
system font for FC5?

Photosharing with Linux...
by Kim Lux
I've got thousands of digital images that we've taken over the years
with our digital camera. I'm always getting bugged by friends and
family to share the images. Its a pain emailing people the images all
the time.
I'd like to have a photo sharing system whereby I could publish the
images on the web via a server I already have and allow people to look
at them via a browser protected by a password. They would need to be
able to view thumbnails, smaller versions and full size versions of each
image. As well as download the image files if they want to make prints
for themselves.
I don't want to use an image hosting service. I've done that and its a
pain.
So what applications are available for Linux and what server apps are
needed to support them ?
