Nautilus network browsing problem
by Paul Erickson
For some reason, due to updates in the last week or so, Nautilus cannot
browse via the Windows Network, but these filesystems can be mounted
manually using 'mount -t cifs...' commands. Nautilus will then see the
filesystems. but only because it isn't required to use Windows
networking to get to them (by mounting them manually, that part of
Nautilus is bypassed).
Does anyone know why the CIFS mounts would work, but Nautilus Windows
networking would not?
Thanks in advance.

I guess that's either proof that it isn't all that useful
or proof that I hardly ever run GNOME (or both :-).

Adding FC5 to an XP computer -
by Bob Goodwin
I'm about to add an 80G sata second drive to a Dell 2.8G XP computer
that I wish to boot to both Linux and Windows XP. I have the FC5 DVD
from which I intend to do the install.
What do I need to know before I start? XP Home is already installed and
I have no way to reinstall it, no o/s CD's are provided. There will
probably be choices for locating boot and grub, what is best to do there?
Any suggestions, reference material, etc. appreciated.

FC5 new install memory issue....
by Tom Bishop
I have a new MSI K9mgm2 AM2 system that I just built and loaded with FC5
x_64. The problem that I am havin is that the system is writing to the
memory like it is disk and the more I do the less I have (I have 2gig). I
am running with the latest kernel (2174) and not sure what to look at. I
can provide more system details if needed, but am running out of ideas. My
main drive is a serial drive and I do have a swap partition but it never
uses it, once the memory gets down so far it just locks up. Anyone, anyone
have any suggestions/help. Thanks.

Toslink Setup
by Peter Hutnick
I have a Chaintech AV710 (a.k.a. "Multimedia audio controller: VIA
Technologies Inc. VT1720/24 [Envy24PT/HT] PCI Multi-Channel Audio
Controller (rev 01)" in lspci).
Is there a way to make it output on Toslink by default? Do I have to
find some obscure device ID and configure every audio application
individually?
Thanks,
Peter

OT: block mail for specific user
by James Pifer
This is way OT, but I'd rather not get on yet another mailing list. I
want to setup email for one of my kids, but I only want to allow mail
from specific addresses and blocking all others.
I'm running Sendmail with MailScanner. Any way to do what I'm looking
for?
Thanks,
James

Re: Kernel panic after FC2->FC5
by Jack Howarth
Lonni,
Immediately after the line which says that
the kernel is being decompressed and then booted.
I don't see any error messages besides the kernel
panic. I am wondering if the following might help
at all...
1) boot under linux rescue
2) chroot so that the upgraded disk appears to
be in use
3) try to yum update the chrooted upgraded linux
disk to the latest kernel (or even to all the
current packages).
