Limiting GNOME drivemount-applet display?
by Steven I Usdansky
Is there any way (and if so, how do I do it) to limit the devices
the GNOME drivemount-applet displays to specifically exclude devices
listed in /etc/fstab? I really don't need to see the 11 identical hard
drive icons for the other partitions on my hard drive.
Thanks.

In fact I did. I am running version 3.0 from extras, but for FC6.
Although, there are a lot of documentation in the official site,
it is very difficult to realize the few things one has to do to make it
work.
Since Fedora ships it with the user backuppc associated to the nologin,
one has to set the ssh keys somehow, maybe changing the
backuppc user to an ordinary login shell (bash), setting everything
and then setting it back to nologin.
Another point is the problem of realizing where to put the configuration
file for each client.
I think that a simple README.Fedora in the rpm would do the trick.
At least the security issues seem to have been taken care by the packager.

Same issue, the fixes for 2.0.0.6 weren't deemed necessary for Fedora. Again you will not likely find it in the updates repository for Fedora 7.

So... using rsync, would this work?

basic question about assigning ip address
by Peter Horst
I have a Fedora machine I'm using as a home server, without a keyboard
or monitor. I'd like to set it up such that upon rebooting it first
checks to see if there is a DHCP server on the network, and if so, grabs
an ip address from it. But if there isn't one, it assigns itself a
static address. Is this doable?
Thank you.
