re:new daylight savings time
by dhottinger@harrisonburg.k12.va.us
You know I have everything from Redhat 9 to Fedora Core 6 all running
needed services. I have 2 core 2 servers doing DNS. I have a Redhat
9 box running iptables as my firewall, I have 2 fedora 5 boxes running
webpages and squid, a core 6 box doing mail, webmail. To say that if
I have anything less than a Fedora core 4 box I have problems is not
very bright. Both of my DNS servers are core 2. I have updated named
several times since putting them online, but they are running on old
hardware, that may not be compat. with newer versions of Linux. I ask
a simple question expecting at least some kind of intelligent answer.
I have very little free time. I cant update my OS's every 6 months to
keep up with the newest releases. Nor do I think that is prudent, if
it aint broke dont mess with it. My dns servers work very well. My
dhcp server works very well, my firewall works very well. If I
upgrade to a newer version, that may not be the case. Most of my
packages are built from source not rpm. So an upgrade may fail, so
then where would I be. Yea, I'll check the archives.

gpg-agent
by Bruno Costacurta
Hello,
how to setup, start and test gpg-agent ?
I tried via kgpg but it complains about a non-running agent even if
a 'gpg-agent --daemon' is indeed running.
Thanks.
Bye,
Bruno

XDMCP problems after xorg(?) updates
by Chris Mohler
Hi list,
Anyone using LTSP or XDMCP on FC6?
None of my terminals seem to be working after the last batch of xorg
updates. It took me a while to spot the problem, as I've only been
using one terminal lately and it hardly ever requires a reboot. I
powered down that terminal to cannibalize some of the RAM, and when I
brought it back up, everything looked fine (booted loaded framebuffer,
went to GDM login screen). However, logging in crashes the remote X
server with (paraphrasing) "EE: unable to load module 'mga_hal" module
does not exist".
Thinking that I'd borked something hardware-wise, I unshelved one of
the other terminal machines. It also booted to the remote GDM login
screen - but logging in crashes the X server also. Nothing is amiss
in the xorg.log. This one is logged in /var/log/messages on the
"head" machine: "gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error -
Restarting ws200:0"
I'm going to try a 3rd terminal box, but was wondering if anyone on
the list is using thin terminals, and if so are you having problems
after the recent updates...
I've downgraded GDM with no joy, and will probably attempt to
downgrade xorg if I can't figure this out - any pointers on that
process are definitely welcome.
Thanks,
Chris

restorecond: Will not restore a file with more than one hard link
by Jack Howarth
I am seeing repeated entries in /var/log/messages of a newly
installed x86_64 FC6 box on a RAID-1 mirror of the form...
restorecond: Will not restore a file with more than one hard link (/etc/resolv.conf) No such file or directory
which makes no sense as I do see the file with ls -l...
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root 61 Feb 23 11:40 /etc/resolv.conf
and can read it with more. Is this some sort of bug in policycoreutils?
I am assuming I can safely ignore this ignore message.

Didn't help.

That did the trick!

Excellent! I might be trying both (if the look or usage of GTS is too
dated).

Kaffiene question re audio
by Gene Heskett
Hi;
Trying to play a .wmv here, using kaffiene, video is great, no audio.
In wandering around in the kaffiene menu's, I cannot find a place where
one can assign an audio output path arbitrarily, it has 'auto' and blank
for the options.
I am also getting a 'can't bind info socket' from the dvb client. Render
engine in use is kaffiene-xine, and apparently cannot be changed because
of the above error.
Does this tickle anyones memory?

URL Mystery
by Evan Panagiotopoulos
I hope this is the correct forum for this type of question. With my Fedora
and Firefox I was able to go anywhere. A few days ago a "strange" thing
started happening where I cannot go to my school's web server. I can ping
the server without any issues, I can access it using the same computer
with the vmware client. I used unsuccessfully the following tools:
Firefox, Konqueror, and lynx. I don't have squid running.
HELP!
