Dries Repo Dead?
by Keith G. Robertson-Turner
I haven't seen any updates from either one of the following mirrors
since the 2nd of March:
rsync://apt.sw.be/pub/freshrpms/pub/dag/dries/fedora/linux/$release/$arch/RPMS.$repo/
rsync://ftp.belnet.be/packages/dries.ulyssis.org/fedora/fc$release/$arch/...
I know there was supposed to be a coordinated effort to move to
rpmforge, but AFAICT this is still incomplete.
Anyone know what's happening over there?
The Dries repo still has some packages that can't be found elsewhere.

dump/restore (or "star") and SELinux problems
by Kayvan A. Sylvan
Hi folks,
I am trying again. I haven't gotten an answer that works yet and hoping that
people who know more about SELinux and Fedora can see this and suggest
a solution (or at least a way to investigate).
My goal: To be able to reszie a partition (or rearrange filesystems) without
losing any data or meta-data.
parted is useless, since it won't handle the xattr filesystem data.
I used dump to create a filesystem backup, then used the FC5 Install DVD
to go into rescue mode and restore the dump. That seem to work okay for
the file data. However, for each and every file, I get the message:
restore: lsetxattr ./filename_being_restored failed: Invalid argument
Using "ls -Z", I see that all the files end up being unlabeled (or they
are in the unlabeled_t context).
These files were all set up in Fedora FC4, using the targeted policy.
When I am booting up using the FC5 Install DVD ("linux rescue"), the SELinux
startup shows:
security: 3 users, 6 roles, 1161 types, 135 bools, 1 sens, 256 cats
security: 55 classes, 38679 rules
SELinux: Completing initialization.
SELinux: Setting up existing superblocks.
SELinux: initialized (dev loop0, type squashfs), not configured for labeling
SELinux: initialized (dev usbfs, type usbfs), uses genfs_contexts
SELinux: initialized (dev ramfs, type ramfs), uses genfs_contexts

SELinux: initialized (dev eventpollfs, type eventpollfs), uses genfs_contexts

SELinux: initialized (dev sockfs, type sockfs), uses task SIDs
SELinux: initialized (dev cpuset, type cpuset), not configured for labeling
SELinux: initialized (dev proc, type proc), uses genfs_contexts
SELinux: initialized (dev bdev, type bdev), uses genfs_contexts
SELinux: initialized (dev rootfs, type rootfs), uses genfs_contexts
SELinux: initialized (dev sysfs, type sysfs), uses genfs_contexts
I have also tried using "star" with the following args:
star -v -c -xdev -sparse -acl -link-dirs level=0 -wtardumps \
f=root.star -C / .
And then, when booted into the rescue mode, did the following to extract:
star -xpU -restore f=root.star
This produced the same result. The files end up being unlabeled.
I am wondering if I have to have the same SELinux policy loaded while
in the rescue mode in order to avoid the "lsetxattr: invalid argument"
error? How would I go about doing that?
Thanks for any help!

Evolution language
by Ambrogio
Hi all,
I would like to know how to change the evolution language.
I changed PC and i installed a fresh FC6.
I installed all the same packages as my old PC, and copied entirely my
home dir.
So now I have Evolution in english, and before was in italian, but some
pictures, some button and some menus are in italian.
I'm confused and I don't know how to solve this behaviour.
tnx to all

Bluetooth (bluez) under Fedora-6
by Timothy Murphy
I am running bluez under Fedora-6
(I have installed all bluez* packages)
and want to link to my phone (a Sony-Ericsson T630)
using gnokii.
Unfortunately, I seem to be unable to set a bluetooth pin
on my computer.
When I try to connect (with "gnokii --identify")
the phone asks for the pin,
but whatever I enter on the phone
I am told there is a Passkey mismatch.
I notice that /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf
came without any pin_helper entry.
I tried the following three:
# PIN helper
# pin_helper dbus_pin_helper;
# pin_helper /usr/bin/bluez-pin;
pin_helper /etc/bluetooth/feed-pin.sh
In the last case feed-pin.sh reads
#!/bin/sh
echo "PIN:0000"
and has mode 755.
I ran "sudo service bluetooth restart" after each change.
I also ran "sudo bluez-pin --dbus &".
As far as I can see a window should came up on my laptop
asking me to enter a pin, but nothing came up.
More recently, I downloaded and installed
kdebluetooth and kdebluetooth-devel from the redhat-kde site.
Unfortunately I could not find any documentation for this,
and no commands I gave seemed to have any useful effect.
Incidentally, when I ran "rpm -ql kdebluetooth"
I notices a large number of *.desktop files.
Am I right in thinking that these are potentially at least
entries in the Fedora menu?
If so, how does one add them to the menu?
Any advice or suggestions gratefully received.

Re: Webcam with FC6
by Mike Zingale
Keith, I have, I believe, the same camera. You need to install the
SPCA driver for it -- this is not part of the mainline kernel. The
following worked for me:
wget http://drpixel.tuxfamily.org/fedora/drpixel-release-1-1.noarch.rpm
rpm -Uvh drpixel-release-1-1.noarch.rpm
yum install --enablerepo=drpixel kmod-gspca
in aMSN, if you use a NAT/router, you need to open ports 6890-6900 for
the camera to work. I believe I also had to do this in the fedora
firewall.

IPW3945 Booting Problem
by Thomas Paine
I have my wireless mostly working on my laptop, but I have two issues left.
First off, my wpa_supplicant tries to start before my ipw3945d daemon.
I searched, but I can't seem to figure out a way to get it to start afterwards.
Second, I searched and found several posts on getting gnome to try my
login password to unlock my keyring, and I tried without success on
adding a line to my pam. My password to my keyring is the same as the
password when I login, so I'm not sure what is causing it to not use
my password.
Thanks.
