FC6: Where is ip_conntrack_ftp being loaded from?

lsmod tells me that ip_conntrack_ftp is loaded but I want to understand how it got loaded. It was not defined in these files: /etc/sysconfig/iptables-config /etc/rc.d/* /etc/modprobe.conf Is this particular module loaded by the kernel so some other special way? thanks, -eric wood

FFox 2.0 suddenly hogging all CPU resources - Java is the cause

This may not be the right place, except that several other FC6 boxes are fine. In the past few days, my work machine has started choking on Java pages - it displays the Java icon and the radius circling in the center, but the java applet never loads, and eventually, FF just freezes and has to be killed. This is FF 2.0 from the remi.repo and Java 1.5.0.08, which I upgraded to 1.5.0.11 to no avail - Java is installed according to the Stanton Finley instructions and has been working fine till a few days ago. I've googled around and found the older CPU hogging issue of some months ago, but nothing recent - I've disabled all my FF extensions and I've even disabled Selinux, but to no avail. Anyone else getting this? -- Claude Jones Brunswick, Md, USA

The installation produced an HP-Fax printer attached to the same internal network address. I presume that I can fax from OpenOffice or using ksendfax, although I have not tried. More importantly, for me the scanner works over the network. It took a little while for me to get sane and xsane set up, but once set up, xsane scans *using the document feeder* without problem. what is a .la file

dear list, i was looking into the qhull-devel package on extras, and I get a file which is in /usr/lib/libqhull.la. I have never seen a .la file before and so was wondering what this is, and how i should link to the library when calling. Backup My Ferdora Core 6 Server

Hello Firstly I know this topic has been covered a couple of times, but I would like some fresh suggestions for my own personal case. I am running Fedora Core 6 on an old Evo N160 laptop. This runs very well on a laptop so old with the exception of there is no life in the battery. The server is up and running 24/7 since it was built around 4-5 months ago. The main usage of the server is for mySQL and web services. I have DNS forwarding on my Dynamic IP address so that I can always get to the content of my web server from where ever I have Internet access. I have now put countless hours of development time in to my web site, which is reasonably backed up as I use Dreamweaver from my normal laptop. The data content of mySQL is not currently backed up along with the rest of the system. My worse case scenario is that the laptop goes down with a hardware fault and corrupt drive. This would mean that I would probably lose everything except my html and php web pages. What I would like is some detailed instructions on the best way to back these up. I have HDD's that can be connected via USB if necessary or I could place backups on my main PC which is easier to switch on. As the main system content of the server only changes once a week when I download updates I initially require a backup to restore the system with my main settings. This could just be a monthly backup as downloading the updates is not a major issue. I would be quite happy to mainly backup the mySQL databases on a regular basis. At present I am able to connect to a shared location on the server from my windows machines using SAMBA. However I have not set anything up to work the other way so that the server can connect to a Windoes PC (would need further instructions). I would be grateful for any information on the best way to resolve my backup dilema. If my server dies then I currently would like to restore the system to one of mt other spare Dell laptops. ADSL modem, configured at boot time

I have a Huawei ADSL modem that my ISP gave me a few days ago. My FC6 found it inmidiatly after plugin the USB cord, and after surfing the web with my old connection, and installing packages I didn't have (linux-atm and rp-pppoe for example) I made it work with these commands: # modprobe br2684 # br2684ctl -c 0 -b -a 0.33 # ifconfig nas0 up # adsl-setup # ifup ppp0 Now, with the exception of adsl-setup, all the other commands I have to execute then after booting the PC to get a conection to my ISP.
