Dear All, I want to know MUST the Server machine BEHIND the linux firewall / router machine, then it can be assign ( use ) PRIVATE IP to instead of PUBLIC IP ? Edward.

VNC Problem

I'm trying to get vnc-server working, but can't seem to get there. Whenever i try to connect from a remote windows machine, i get failed to connect to server. HP All in One device support

Back in the FC3 days, I was helping a person convert to Fedora from Window$. They had an HP 1320 Printer, scanner, copier. The Linux drivers at that time could support it either as a printer or a scanner but not both. I ended up attaching it to a box running Window$ and let it go at that. Does anyone have any recent experience connecting these type devices to a Linux box? Are the HP PSC devices now fully supported? Thanks for any advice. Bob Styma

Is Fedora 6 fit in IBM A21 notebook?

Hi, I have a IBM A21p notebook with Pentium III 850 Mhz CPU and 512 RAM. I want to install Linux on it. Is Fedora 6 a goog choice for this? or other release of Linux? Thanks Frank

Video is terrible in FC6

I have 2 boxes with the same mobo and monitor, different video cards. One has ATI radeon 9600 pro and works just fine with a CRT or an LCD (both LCD monitors died budget currently won't support replacing them). The other ha(s/d) an nvidia quadro4 900 xgl, it worked just fine with an LCD but with a CRT it only works at 60 refresh rate no matter the resolution. Any other refresh rate causes the screen to wobble from the second it boots in all screen modes(text/GUI). Also the refresh rate gets set back to 85 when the box boots so I have to set it back to 60. I swapped the two CRT monitors between the two boxes. (ok, not the monitor), used an extra video cable (ok, not the cable). Pulled the nvidia card and used an SIS card. (ok, not the video card). No change after doing any of these. Bind and logging config

Hi I'm getting lots and lots of query denied messages in my /var/log/messages folder for named. Is there a way for me to turn off named logging of this violation, also how can I configure bind to log all named issue to /var/log/named instead of /var/log/messages? Thanks in advance Dan

Then the problem becomes harvesting the addresses. Is there a way to get them other than reading them as they flash across the bottom of the screen in Firefox? Info on options to yumdownloader

Hello, I have a FC6 system (with no updates). When I do 'uname -r', I get "2.6.18-1.2798.fc6", the standard kernel that comes with the original FC6. I have been reading and following the instructions in the link "http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/6/i386/os/RELEASE-N…" section 8.6, to get the full kernel source to the above kernel. One of the instructions says: yumdownloader -e core-source -e updates-source --source kernel Can someone please tell me what the options - core-source and updates-source do? I have done some googling, read man pages, but to no luck. Any explanation or pointers to web pages that explain these options would be appreciated. What happens if you start vncserver on your Fedora box terminal session (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal) with something like: vncserver -depth 24 -geometry 1280x1024 The startup script will background the server and you'll get a command prompt back. Start the server as a regular user. Once the server is started enter the following in the same terminal window: vncviewer -FullColor -geometry 1280x1024 127.0.0.1:1 This starts a vnc session that is strictly local using the loopback interface. If this works it means that your vncserver setup is good and the problem lies elsewhere. If it doesn't work, the server isn't starting. This should also work if you substitute the the IP address or hostname of your Fedora box. BTW, how are you starting your VNC server? I usually fire things up as described above since I'm the only user. If you start the server through the /etc/init.d script (i.e., you enable the service through the "Services" application), you'll need to add any users to /etc/sysconfig/vncserver.
