/etc/vnc/xstartup will fail and vnc won't work. Try converting your
.vnc/xstartup to use exec /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc. I've included my
.vnc/xstartup below if you just want to drop a copy into ~/.vnc on one
of your systems to see if it works for you.

Still can't get Java 1.6 to run applets?

I still can't get Firefox to run Java applets. I've installed 1.6 and
just the other day 1.6u1 and the JPackage parts but the applets do not
run. They did work just fine with 1.5 however. If I look at
about:plugins it shows 1.6.0_01-b06 installed and enabled. Nothing
looks different than 1.5 but it doesn't work. Any body got any ideas
where I can start to look?

missing xorgcfg

Hi. I have a xorg config problem I'm trying to sort out. When I wanted
to create a new xorg.conf from scratch, I discovered that xorgcfg and
xorgconfig both were missing. Are these removed from the fedora x
packages or do I have a faulty install?
Which package should the files be in?
Maybe you know of a template xorg.conf somewhere that has all the
possible options listed?
Btw, the things I need to sort out are what the files and modules
sections can and/or (must{/, not}) contain for ordinary and fglrx drivers.

1. Is KGDB the right tool? Or there is others?

loading modules in Fedora 6

Hello,
can anybody point me to some reading to better understand how Fedora
loads modules, in which order and from which directories etc.,
especially with regards to Fedora 6. I've read a lot around but nothing
that gives me a firm idea
I am trying to understand how I can install certain modules at boot up
and conversely how I can change a module from being installed
automatically to manually using modprobe. In order to do that I need to
know more about modules that installed at bootup

querying rpm database for installed packages signed with specific gpg key or from specific vendor?

Anybody know of a way, using package management tools (or otherwise), to
query an rpm database for a list of all installed packages from a
specified vendor and/or matching a given gpg key? For instance, i want a
list of all freshrpms packages that i currently have installed. I figure
the simplest way to find out is to (politely) ask the rpm database for a
list of all installed packages from this vendor, and/or signed with that
gpg key.
I just looked at the man pages for yum and rpm; either i'm missing
something, or they currently don't have a facility for doing this. Does
apt or smart provide this capability? Should this be a bugzilla RFE
feature request for yum or rpm?

Fedora Core 6 should be a great fit for that machine. I've put Fedora on a
600E, 600X, T60, and 570. You'll be fine. There are utilities to help make
the Fn button do what it should, and for an onscreen display, among
others.

(Actually my URI is lpd://ip-address/?reserve=none .)
I believe that the underlying cause of this problem is a change to the
selinux policy for cups. I believe that a recent change to the policy
restricts the cups process to only being able to bind to port 631. (I
can't explain the lack of any avc message when the cups-lpd process
receives an error from bind() due to the policy.)
I don't know whether to call this a bug in the selinux policy or a bug
in cups-lpd. It seems that there are historical reasons why a
*client* wants or even must bind to a privileged port number. Anyway,
the work-around you suggest is probably better than modifying the cups
selinux policy. Most folks never want to access a lpd server.
