I doubt if that's the problem or the command would never complete. It
would just continue to recursively call itself until the system crashed.
If I recall correctly, the applications accessed by "Open with" are
specified by a full path. So "Open with" will always use /usr/bin/gimp
unless a new association is added. Another possibility is ~/bin is just
not in the PATH prior to /usr/bin.
Either way, adding the command line argument passed in by "Open with" is
correct. Otherwise you just end up with a copy of the gimp running but
it doesn't know which file to open.
Cheers,
Dave

Procmail : Filter & Resend
by Feris Thia
Hi All,
I have a global (catch-all) account at my ISP. In my Linux box I need
to download all the emails from the account and want to delivered it
to local user's inbox. I've just learned about .forward and
.procmailrc and have no problem with Regular Expression.
How do I match an email's address pattern (username(a)abc.com) from
RECEIVED field in mail's header and then resend it ?

ASUS V1J Laptop issues with Fedora 6
by Robert Hart
Hi
I've recently moved to an Asus V1J laptop and am having a few issues I'd
really like a bit of help with (running Fedora 6)
1. Whilst I can 'see' the 3945 wireless ethernet (I've downloaded and
installed the AT RPMs) I can't seem to get the wireless to turn on
- and the indicator light that says it's on never lights up.
2. I can't get sound working at all. I briefly had it working on one
channel, but that's all.
Anyone out there with experience that can offer assistance would be
appreciated

Launching the Gimp in English
by Dotan Cohen
The Hebrew translation of the Gimp is very difficult to use because
some items were reversed for Right-to-Left, but the places to click
were not. Therefore, I'd like to use the gimp in English while keeping
my locale Hebrew. I created a bash script in ~/bin called gimp and
added it to my path:
[dotancohen@localhost bin]$ pwd
/home/dotancohen/bin
[dotancohen@localhost bin]$ ls -l
--snip--
-rwxrwxr-- 1 dotancohen dotancohen 32 אפר 22 10:44 gimp
[dotancohen@localhost bin]$ cat gimp
#!/bin/bash
export LANG=C
gimp
[dotancohen@localhost bin]$ cat ~/.bash_profile
--snip--
PATH=$HOME/bin:$PATH
export PATH
[dotancohen@localhost bin]$
However, when I right-click a file and "Open with Gimp" it does not
open. What did I do wrong? Thanks in advance.

Did I download an elixir last night ??
by Bill Case
Hi;
The last thing I did last night was "yum" about five outstanding
upgrades. One of them I remember was for D-bus. In any case, my
machine is running like it did 4 years ago. Web and normal refreshes
are noticeably faster, program loading is faster and redraws are
instantaneous.
I am just curious if there was some new patch that I should thank the
developers for; if not I will leave a sardine sandwich and beer out
tonight for the household gnomes.

firefox2 strangeness.
by Aaron Konstam
Sometimes (but not always) when I open firefox2 I get a pop-up which
asks me whether I want to stat a new session or restore the old session.
What controls this event to occur?

Beware Bug 238289 if you run IDE drive on nvidia nForce 4 chip set.
pata_amd cannot find partitions on IDE drive in f7t4. Also some
anamolies with single sata drive on same system as sata RAID1.

ATI & Radeon 9600 RV350
by Claude Jones
I've been working on this a few days, and reading about others struggling with
the ATI driver. I can't seem to find anything definitive.
glxinfo shows among other things:
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.5.1)
Running glxgears gives me:
$ glxgears
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
1951 frames in 5.0 seconds = 389.746 FPS
3240 frames in 5.2 seconds = 628.040 FPS
3240 frames in 5.0 seconds = 642.329 FPS
The above are with the Livna driver; after installing it, I rebooted into
runlevel 3 and ran fglrx-config-display; then restarted into X
I've tried various mods to xorg.conf such as disabling composite - my current
is:

Am I on a fools errand? Should I forget about the ATI driver and revert?
