Mirroring local directory in a remote server

Dear All I connect to a MS Windows network server with Konqueror at an address like the following: smb://myusername@server.uni.edu/myuser$ How can I create a mirror of a local directory in the remote server? I tried rsync, but I was unsuccessful. Thanks in advance, Paul

Hello all Sorry for posting my query here, but did not have any success in getting feedback from linuxprinting.org/ openprinting.org forums. Planning to buy a new colour MFD or a Mono MFD & a Colour printer, for small buisiness office use. Could someone give feedback on HP Laserjet MFD M3027x and Laserjet 2840? Do all functions provided by the printers work on Linux? Any kinks? Do Network Fax features of M3027x work on linux? Any problems in scanning & saving to disk or rather, is there any gui for scanning etc. & especially checking ink levels other maintainence tasks? I use Fedora 6 and CentOS 4/5. Any other model recommendations? With best regards. Sanjay

F7 install: unable to retrieve web server directory

I'm trying to install from a Web server. I enter the server IP: 10.1.1.103 then the directory: yum/7/os Then anaconda says it is unable to retrieve http://10.1.1.103//yum/7/os/images/stage2.img. I see what the problem is: that double slash after the IP. What to do? I can access that same directory from the browser. Regards, Clodoaldo Pinto Neto

fedora 7 - pppd rp_pppoe problem

hi, i made a fresh install of fedora 7. in system - amministration - network , i insert eth0 (realtek ethernet) and a xdsl connection) i have problem with xdsl connection. What grub options do I need to add to grub.conf to boot F7 on an HP-dv5120us?

I have quite a list of them that FC5 needed to boot with, on an HP-dv5120us lappy. Like: kernel (version) noacpi noapic pci=assign-busses lapic Will these still be required for F7? installing a live cd on a server

Hello there, I have a server here which runs fc6 but wanting it upgraded to f7. Can I use the live cd to do this and still keep everything like my previous docs by mounting the current partitions? from fc6? then add packages as I need them afterwords? how do I enable ssh on that system. SSh is what I use all the time to talk to the system. Scott

To those struggling to get the Fedora 7 dvd iso image downloaded: If you have previously downloaded Fedora 7 Test4 or earlier, you might find my program announced in fedora-test-list very helpful. http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-test-list/2007-June/msg00018.html The program allows you to specify an iso you are trying to download {aka Fedora 7 dvd}, and then provide the local location of the earlier test iso {mounted}, or the actual DVD {mounted}. It then uses the iso table of contents / directory structure gained using iso-info {from libcdio} to insert the files from your local media into the iso image you are downloading. Because it is an initial proof-of-concept release, it might be a good idea to make a copy of your .iso file first in case something goes wrong {which I have not seen - but is likely once the "real world" starts using it}. Anyway, the program is command line only at this stage, and help is provided in the text of the python program. Note that for bittorrent {I use azureus}, you need to "Force Recheck", after you restart azureus, but before you restart the torrent ! Let me know if it does or does not work, for you, and I'll try to help out. DaveT.

F7 Install Problem (Installation DVD Not Recognized After Boot)

I'm having the same problem as Frode Petersen had with FC 6. See May 2007 list thread: https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/2007-May/msg00430.html I was able to install FC 6 OK, but I have had the DVD not recognized (after a successful boot) in both F7 test 4 and now the real F7. (My bad that I didn't report it, but I figured surely someone else would have the same problem.) As near as I can tell in the thread, no one had a solution except to try another DVD device or maybe a new mobo. Frode's last msg had a complicated test he was going to try, but his first thesis (that I agree with) is that a DVD that boots Ok should be able to be used for the rest of the installation! The exact sequence of events for me is: Boot the DVD for a graphical install/upgrade select: "English" "US" "Local CDROM" # shouldn't that now say CD/DVD? or one selection for each? then the response: Unable to find any devices of the type needed for this installation type. Would you like to manually select your driver or use a driver disk? Selecting "select driver" gives a LONG list that I've selected all and found none that work. The system eventually gives a failure and reboot. My mobo is an old Gigabyte Dual Athlon with USB 1 and all IDE devices. I'll be happy to do some more detailed logging if anyone can suggest something meaningful to try. Thanks for any help. -Tom P.S. F7 torrents

I'm noticing on torrent.fedoraproject.org that there's an i386 torrent that's 2.8GB, but it doesn't say if it's DVD or CD versions. confused on downloads

so i tried to get F7 today but i'm a bit confused. i go to the mirror and navigate to: /pub/fedora.redhat.com/fedora/linux/releases/7 then i find: Everything Fedora Live i assume the isos are in Fedora so i go there. i see: i386 ppc source x86_64 i assume i've found it. so i go to i386 and see: iso os viola! not so fast. inside of the iso folder is: F-7-i386-rescuecd.iso SHA1SUM i obviously don't want the rescue cd. so i back out and go to /pub/fedora.redhat.com/fedora/linux/releases/7 and then to /pub/fedora.redhat.com/fedora/linux/releases/7/Everything/i386/os/Fedora nope not it either. so instead i go to /pub/fedora.redhat.com/fedora/linux/releases/7/Live/i386 which looks promising but still it's a live cd. this has become very confusing. if i want to download the isos for F7 where do i go? i don't use torrent so that's no use to me. i'm sorry but if the Fedora project is hoping to get new users with F7 this is not the way to do it. a link on the main page to Get Fedora should be very simple to understand. and i'm not a new user... what gives with this? -- jack wallen, jr. www.monkeypantz.net It is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong. - Voltaire
