Sprint Novatel Ovation U720 USB phone very slow on Fedora

I am trying to install a Sprint Mobile Broadband USB Modem (Novatel Ovation U720) cellular USB phone on a Dell laptop running FC7 test4. I found a variety of instructions on getting it to work with FC6 and applied it to my install and it works..sort of. I have the laptop set to dual boot with XP. I first made sure it worked under XP. It does and it extremely fast. I then did the install on FC7. After issuing "/sbin/modprobe usbserial vendor=0×1410 product=0×2110". Once that was done, the modem appeared as /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1 (someone said they think the latter is a management and diagnostic interface; the former is used for the PPP connection). I was then able to use KPPP to set up a dialer connection. I started the dialer and bam it connected. When I click on a website, it takes 30 to 90 seconds to respond. Once it actually starts pulling data, it seems a little quicker but then bogs down when trying to go to the next website. I manually changed the "serial" bit rate in the configuration files to the same way it was set in XP (230400 bps) but that did not help. Under FC6 I was able to get my laptop (HP zv6015us with a Broadcom 4306 wireless NIC) to work with the bcm43xx driver only if I disabled authentication on my AP. You might give this a *brief* try. That is, set your AP as open and see if you can connect. If you can connect and you're sure that you have the authentication set up correctly on your laptop then it sounds like bcm43xx still doesn't like to authenticate. If you still can't connect, there's always ndiswrapper. I'm currently running the 1.45 version of ndiswrapper with a 2.6.21.3 kernel under CentOS 5 and the connection is very stable. fedora 7 wpa_supplicant/ath0 booting problems

Fedora 7 broke the automatic ath0/wpa_supplicant startup. It is still possible to get the network working by restarting wpa_supplicant, doing an ifconfig down/up on ath0, and then restarting ntpd (which fails in a way that causes it not to recover). Does anyone have fedora-7 booting with an automatic wpa wifi connection yet? What is the secret? In fact, just some insight into what is going on with wpa_supplicant would be appreciated. Under fc6 (and fc5) one could start wpa_supplicant before the network startup and have ath0 correctly associate with the AP. Now starting wpa_supplicant just before the network startup causes it to retry associating in an infinite loop with no success. Restarting it via "service wpa_supplicant restart " causes it to associate immediately. -wolfgang -- Wolfgang S. problem with sound on my father's computer

Hello there, We are having problems with sounmd on my father's computer. I see that it looks like a whole bunch of things are using the same memory address. Being able to use exactly the right word to express precisely the right meaning is the beauty of a good vocabulary.
