Oldtimer,
Which browser are you using?
Currently I can see the page fine with firefox-2.0.0.4 in Fedora 7.
Try refreshing or close the browser and open it up again.

Antonio

Thanks.
You mean that the open source driver for Intel card has a much better
support than the open source driver for ATI and nVidia.
I think I will investigate again and look for the one you mentioned.

OpenLDAP woes
by Timothy Murphy
I asked a couple of weeks ago for advice on a LAN-wide address-book,
and several people suggested I look at LDAP.
I did this, and it does indeed look like the best solution,
as kmail and other mail clients seem to accept addresses from LDAP servers.
Unfortunately, the openLDAP documentation seems horrendously bad.
I found a few useful web-sites, particularly
"Build an LDAP-based address book",
at <http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/edu/os-dw-linuxldap-i.html>,
"Building an Address Book with OpenLDAP"
at <http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2003/03/27/ldap_ab.html>,
and also <http://www.zytrax.com/books/ldap/ch5>.
But I'm left with a few small queries,
and am wondering if many Fedora users have gone down this path?
Also, I wonder if there is a mailing list or newsgroup
devoted to this topic, for newbies?

Problem with yum after upgrading
by Frank
Hello list.
I did an unsupported upgrade of my system from FC5 -> FC6 -> F7
and now i need unofficial help :)
Problem is, that my yum is failing when doing bigger things. Bigger means,
that a "yum install xxx" or "yum uninstall yyy" is working as long as there are
no bigger dependencies. When doing something bigger I get an error message
like the following:

I have already deinstalled and reinstalled yum and python-2.5 but
that didn't help.
I guess I might have some old library somewhere on the system that is
not in the
RPM database, but I didn't find one by now.
BTW, i did the same upgrade on another system (to be exact a bit more, from
FC4 up to F7) last week and that one is running without any problems.
Does someone have a hint for me maybe?
Thanks in advance.

rpm: error while loading shared libraries: libelf.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
by Excalibur Xcalibur
Hi,
I accidentally messed up my system while updating with yum: There was
a power trip when yum was updating my box and I ended up with conflicting
elfutils. Now when I try fixing the problem, I wiped out elfutils and I
realized it's linked to ALL rpm commands.
"rpm: error while loading shared libraries: libelf.so.1: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory"
So basically I can't use any rpm commands or yum to install, delete or
update anything! I tried downloading elfutils-0.128.tar.gz and going through
a "./configure, make, make install" but I ended with
In file included from linux-kernel-modules.c:63:
/usr/include/fts.h:41:3: error: #error "<fts.h> cannot be used with
-D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS==64"
make[2]: *** [linux-kernel-modules.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/excalibur/rpmbuild/BUILD/elfutils-0.128
/libdwfl'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/excalibur/rpmbuild/BUILD/elfutils-0.128'
make: *** [all] Error 2
In a nutshell, I'm pretty screwed and I need help. :( Any suggestions on how
to fix this problem?

Subject: Trying to make sense of firefox plugins
I have been having a problem with firefox (on a ThinkPad T23).
Basically, it exits as soon as certain sites are accessed.
I downloaded the sources at one of these sites (with wget)
and the same behaviour occurred when looking at the file.
I think the problem lies in javascript;
when I turned it off (in Firefox Preferences)
the problem stopped in most (but not all) cases.
I tried removing and re-installing firefox and js (with yum)
but this didn't do any good.
It seems to me the problem probably lies in a firefox plugin.
So I was looking at these, and found the whole setup pretty confusing.
I wonder if there is any document that explains firefox setup clearly?
I really hate these directories with names like "9eaqek76.Default User".
Why these idiotic names?
Is there any simple way of seeing what plugins are in use?
And if one deletes a plugin, how can it be replaced?

Is there any simple way of seeing what plugins are in use?
In the address bar
type about:plugins
which will return which plugins are in active use
You will also have to keep in mind your own user profile(s)
for instance in my own user directory (home) I have
[olivares@localhost ~]$ cd .mozilla/plugins/
[olivares@localhost plugins]$ ls -l
total 9556

-rwxr-xr-x 1 olivares olivares 1021 2007-06-12 08:35 mplayerplug-in.xpt
[olivares@localhost plugins]$ cd ~
and in the universal directory there is
[olivares@localhost ~]$ ls -l /usr/lib/firefox-2.0.0.4/plugins/

Also in Tools Option there is a subcategory called Add-ons where you can find themes/extensions like Fake Agent (User agent Switcher), Stuff for ads like Adblocker etc.

I am with you on this one. Which one is more weird yours or mine
gfi0egg9.default
I had a problem with a plugin and firefox refused to load up. to fix the problem I removed the .mozilla/firefox/ directory and its contents and cut and pasted from the ones as root user. I then changed owner to my own account. I disabled all plugins and thankfully it worked again.
[olivares@localhost .mozilla]$ ls
firefox mplayerplug-in.conf mplayerplug-in.types plugins
[olivares@localhost .mozilla]$ cd firefox/
[olivares@localhost firefox]$ ls
gfi0egg9.default pluginreg.dat profiles.ini

-rw-rw-r-- 1 olivares olivares 94 2007-06-04 00:19 profiles.ini
[olivares@localhost firefox]$ cd ..
[olivares@localhost .mozilla]$
There is a page for common plugins
