Trying to find the list of wireless cards supported out of the box for Fedora 7. Couldn't find any clear answer on the Fedora wiki. I have the D-Link DWL-G132 USB wireless device. Currently running Fedora 5 (dual boot with XP) and I haven't bothered trying to get it to run there. I was running wired up until recently so it was a non-issue. But I've moved stuff around and am now wireless. If Fedora 7 can support it out of the box I'll go with that. Otherwise I'll delay until I can have my computer connected via my NIC as well to trouble shoot it (so won't venture there yet - other weekend projects are taking priority). Thanks, Jacques B.

booting with the idle=poll kernel parameter

All, I ma trying to eliminate some stability issues with latest NVIDIA drivers. I have found an article which suggested setting idle=poll kernel parameter. I have no idea how to do that. Thanks for the above. I uninstalled 915resolution using yum, and then went through the steps above. To no avail. I was not able to get the higher 1680x1050 resolution.... Any further suggestions? Btw, I wonder why we need the livna repo. I did follow the above advice word for word, though. help with ssh ?

Hi List; I have a machine I want to ssh to with no passwd. How to mount existing lvm drive on multi boot sytem

I have an FC3 system on which I just installed Fedora 7 in a new partition. In addition to the boot drive, the system also has 2 sata drives. On FC3, I had built them into a software raid with md, then put an LVM VG on that (the whole array is one VG) and then created one LV using the whole VG. It's mounted as /video on my FC3 system. Now I want to mount it as /video when I boot Fedora 7. I don't want to lose any data or do anything that would make it unavailable when I boot FC3. Looks like I can rebuild the raid under Fedora 7 by using mdam --assemble. After I do this, how do I configure LVM on Fedora 7 so it finds the existing physical and logical volumes?

Trying to setup CVS server

I am trying to setup my CVS server but I am getting authorization problems: 1) cvs login returns: "... Cannot open: /home/cvs/CVSROOT/config" 2) /var/log/secure returns: "... password mismatch for dant: xxMtazAdD97. vs x" I have tried everything possible such as to 777 the entire cvs home directory to no avail. I tried to find out where the encrypted password was stored with no luck. Can anyone point me to a really good CVS install instruction site that works? Thanks! Upgrade 6 -> 7 not working.

I tryed to upgrade the fc6 with the Fedora 7 DVD. Installation menu offered the upgrade of the recent version on hda2, but after my choose that version I got an error message: Error mounting device hda2 as / : no such file or directory devices in /etc/fstab . Should be specified by label, not by device name. Click to reboot. What can I do? TIA: fb

Hmmm ... this is from the /var/log/Xorg.0.log with the intel driver: (II) intel: Driver for Intel Integrated Graphics Chipsets: i810, i810-dc100, i810e, i815, i830M, 845G, 852GM/855GM, 865G, 915G, E7221 (i915), 915GM, 945G, 945GM, 945GME, 965G, 965G, 965Q, 946GZ, 965GM, 965GME/GLE, G33, Q35, Q33 So it looks like it should work on your system. Is your version the same as listed? (2.0.0-4) The chip set is very new ... The driver also announces itself as a new version of the i810 driver. It is also my understanding that the specs from intel are good on the new chip set, so it should work. Perhaps yours is a variant that is not covered, yet. There is a newer version of the above mentioned rpm in development, (2.1.1-3) maybe that one will work for you. drm will be broken because of a version mismatch, but 3D is not ready yet anyways. You can safely install it with: # yum --enablerepo=development install xorg-x11-drv-i810 It should come down by itself. Give that one a shot to see if it supports your variant. Good Luck! And this fixes it!! It is a fc8 package, but 1680 x 1050 is fixed by default. Thanks, Phil!! The new F7 intel video driver from: xorg-x11-drv-i810-2.0.0-4.fc7 ...xorg.conf... Section "Device" Identifier "Videocard0" Driver "intel" EndSection ... Seems to handle the new X1300 in 2D mode just fine. 3D is still a no go. (locks the system) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks! But this does not do anything: in particular, I do have this installed on my system. xorg.conf does show the correct thing. one thing to note though is that i get the following as my video card using system-config/display intel - Experimental modesetting driver for Intel integrated graphics chipsets rather than i810 - Intel Integrated Graphics Chipsets, including i810, i815, 830M, 845G, 852GM, 855GM, 865G, 915G, 915GM, and 945GM. Of course, I realize that 965GM is not listed in this list above, and forcing its selection killed X for me and I had to revert back.... Has anyone been able to get it to work? Sound, however, did not work and required a fresh build of the alsa kernel drivers and libraries. Hibernate works perfectly, but suspend on Fedora comes back at brightness 0 (dimmest setting) and cannot be altered. An additional suspend without reboot will cause the old no screen, no keyboard problem. Normal fixes for that do not work.
