xinetd/rsh-server rpms not found

I used DVD install of fc8t1 from http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/releases/test/7.90/Fedora/ppc/iso/F-7.90-p… Actually I am fc distro tester from IBM. I do test stress, n/w stress, ltp, samba ,nfs etc.. on community distributions. I picks up all development releases , installs over IBM Hardware (especially power). I need to start all n/w services. I couldn't find xinetd, rsh-server, compat-libs, etc.., for my tests.. Its not available in repository too http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/releases/test/7.90/Fedora/ppc/os/ --thanks omar

Havp giving segment faults

kvm quite stalled in f7: any reason?

Lately many improvements such as smp guest in kvm. But it stays at kvm-24 in F7 as released in May (when it was strictly in parallel with upstream). Only missing of time or anything else? Anyone using latest kvm versions in f7? Thanks, Gianluca

screen is locked with password request

Hi Guys Sorry me again. I just can't find this anywhere and google wants to ban me :-) just kidding. How do i disable the screen lock pasword function when my screensaver or power mamnagement comes on (KDE) ? I have disabled my screensaver and the screensaver password bit but still my screen gets locked with a password prompt when i want to start working again. Mark

How to modify xorg.conf from command line in rescue console (F7)

I am trying to install Fedora 7 in VirtualPC 2007 and I have gotten to the first restart after the install has completed. At this point one must boot the dVD in rescue mode in order to change xorg.conf so that the default color depth is not 24 (can be anything but 24 but this particular value is incompatible with VPC2007). So I was adviced to do it this way, however they did not tell me *how* one can edit a file in Linux.... Using more I can see that the file is set for 24 bit depth and I just need to change that to 16 and I'm done. (Forgot to say that I am a Windows user, completely green at Linux...) Detailed instructions on how to start a command line editor for this file would be appreciated as well as how to save and exit from it. Bo Berglund

I found this fix at fedoraforum.org. I now have an update icon in my system tray. And an updates available panel pops up when updates are available. Clicking on that automatically brings up Pup. How many nfs daemons needed on a system with nfs mounts?

Hi, I have a master with a harddisk, and 8 diskless clients, configured as a cluster on a internal network. These diskless clients mount their root, /home, /usr and /opt directories over nfs from the master. When I do a "netstat -a | grep nfs" on each client, I see that each client has three ESTABLISHED tcp connections for nfs: tcp 0 0 client1:797 master:nfs ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 client1:798 master:nfs ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 client1:795 master:nfs ESTABLISHED Hence, that sums up to 8 clients times three is 24 connections altogether. Is it then better to also have 24 nfsd daemons running on the master? At the moment I have only 8 nfsd daemons on the master (the default).
