C++ types

I was told there is only one kind of C++ in Linux. I was surprised and looked at man gcc and direct that person to the section headed: Options Controlling C Dialect The following options control the dialect of C (or languages derived from C, such as C++, Objective-C and Objective-C++) that the compiler accepts: -ansi In C mode, support all ISO C90 programs. In C++ mode, remove GNU extensions that conflict with ISO C++. This is what I was in referance to. I wonder what C Dialect Windows uses? -- Karl F. mysqld and mysql

hi list i have an FC4 machine with mysqld installed with the default configuration, "Say Box A", and i have another FC4 machine which i want to use as a client, say "Box B" when i start mysqld service on "Box A" and i issue the following command on shell #mysql -u root -p it simply connects with the server mysqld running on the localhost. but when i goto "Box B" and issue the following command #mysql --host="Box A's IP" -u root -p it says the "Box B" is not allowed to connect to the mysqld server how to resolve this issue Regards Azeem _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! where is the net-snmp-utils in fedora 7

Dear all, Now I managed to install snmp package in fc7, but unfortunately I didn't find net-snmp-utils, because I need snmpwalk to test snmp function. So anyone have a idea, how to find net-snmp-utils, ofcs, I found it in development repository. That need us to update all the dependence, but I don't want to do. Where is the net-snmp-utils in fedora 7 without upgrade? Thanks in advance, Zhou Zhen

Cannot write to SD card

I have a 2 GB Sandisk SD card that I often write to. Just today, it has started to be mounted read-only: cp: cannot create regular file `bg.jpg2': Read-only file system The read-write switch on the side of the card is set to write, and I've never had trouble with it before. So I figured that I'll be smart and man mount, in where I discovered the -w flag, but I get this error: [root@localhost ~]# mount -w /media/disk mount: /dev/sda1 already mounted or /media/disk busy mount: according to mtab, /dev/sda1 is already mounted on /media/disk So I tried unmounting it, but the device seems to be busy: [root@localhost ~]# umount /media/disk umount: /media/disk: device is busy umount: /media/disk: device is busy There are no open konqueror windows, or anything else that might be accessing the card, so far as I can tell. Mike My funk is not with perl per se, but with the continuing proliferation of dependencies on which the target package is not really dependent. kdesdk gets along perfectly well on other distributions without perl. TNWestTex

I posted this question previously on 2 mailing lists (the other one rejected the posting due to it also being directed here). This is generic to all distros, but I am using fedora-7 on a project and would like to know where this can be changed at. Currently, my FC-7 install is using the default md5 hashing in /etc/shadow. unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any information on how to change this, let alone where. anyone have some useful links that can help (I've tried google, but all I've managed to get flooded with is encryption whitepapers and things unrelated to linux). thanks. Logitech MX1000 buttons

Hi I have found quite a few links which say are to be helpfull but are all dead. I have used livna's "livna-config-display" to install a nvidia driver so my xorg does not seem to have my mouse editing options. Still have to search for this. Anyone managed to get the back and forward buttons to work using my configuration ? Mark
