Do you know an easy (fast) way to find all the softlinks to a given
file, using Fedora?
Example: in case of "S1 -> F, ...., SN -> F" the task is to find
S1, ..., SN given file F.
Any idea is appreciated,
Z.
When I run Googleearth from my updated F7 with Intel Mobile Graphic
controller, at 1280x800 my system must be re-booted as I get only
flashing black screen, and the only way is by a Ctrl+canc+Del
combination or by hard-reboot.
Any other experience???

Hi,
I'm trying to port a tool from solaris 10 to Fedora 7. While running gcc
I get some strange errors. Example app:
include <netinet/in.h>
int main() {
const int segments = 100;
inet6_rth_space(IPV6_RTHDR_TYPE_0, segments);
return 0;
}
While running gcc the following output is created:
> $ gcc -Wall -o test test.c
> test.c: In function ‘main’:
> test.c:5: warning: implicit declaration of function ‘inet6_rth_space’
Under solaris it compiles just fine. Does someone know whats wrong?
cheers,
Stefan
As I reported here earlier I have installed Fedora 7 on my system with
a view to replacing Slackware. In an effort to try and sort out the
problems with Fedora 7 stopping I decided to upgrade the BIOS. I have
installed the version 21 BIOS for the AB9 Pro and it has caused a very
odd problem...
After upgrading the BIOS Fedora wouldn't boot any more, it loaded the
kernel and then fell in a crumpled heap unable to see the disks. I
thought this might be because the SATA interface needed to be switched
to AHCI mode but on doing this the disks are no longer visible at all at
boot time so the system refuses to even start booting.
So I have set the SATA disks back to IDE mode, and noticed that my old
Slackware installation still boots (using the grub loader installed by
Fedora!). Why does my Slackware still boot when Fedora can't seem to
see the disks at all?

I don't when the problem begin but my scanner worked fine when i first
install F-7. Now when i try to use it it's very very long ...
When i plug my usb scanner i obtain this in dmesg :
usb 3-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 2
usb 3-3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
When i launch xsane i can select my scanner and i obtain this in dmesg :
ppdev: user-space parallel port driver
ppdev0: registered pardevice
ppdev0: unregistered pardevice
ppdev1: claim the port first
ppdev2: claim the port first
ppdev3: claim the port first
usb 3-3: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 2
When i select my usb scanner in xsane, xsane spend at least 60s to be
operational and after that when i ask a scan xsane spend at least 60s
before beginning the scan.
What could be the problem ?
Thanks
Eric
I won't make the same mistake twice. I'm replacing the desktop
machine, and I need a graphics card that does these things:
1) Has working TV-out in Fedora
2) Runs GoogleEarth
3) Runs Compiz
I'm on a real budget here, and I'll probably buy off ebay as local
supply is rather limited. I'll buy off list members if someone has a
relevant card lying around. Any suggestions as to which cards are
good, and your experience with them, would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

So it loaded the b43 driver and was looking for
/lib/firmware/bcm43xx_microcode5.fw
It tells me to get the firmware from
http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#devicefirmware
... which then says to download
http://downloads.openwrt.org/sources/broadcom-wl-4.80.53.0.tar.bz2
... which when extracted has a wl_apsta.o
... which when extracted with b43-fwcutter ( as per instructions in
the link above ) does NOT produce a file called
/lib/firmware/bcm43xx_microcode5.fw, as shown below:
# b43-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware/ broadcom-wl-4.80.53.0/kmod/wl_apsta.o

So I am confused about the instructions from the website.
Instead, I downloaded the XP drivers from Compaq / HP and extracted
the firmware files instead using bcm43xx-fwcutter ( instead of
b43-fwcutter )
.... which produced the file that the b43 driver was looking for (
/lib/firmware/bcm43xx_microcode5.fw ) and other firmware files.
So why was the b43 driver looking for a firmware file that cannot be
produced by b43-fwcutter ( but produced by bcm43xx-fwcutter ) ?
Does this mean I am using a v3 firmware ? ... but I though b43 driver
is only for v4 firmware ?
So I am confused as per above...

After using Jpilot successfully for some time. I decided to try gnome
pilot with evolution, without success.
In the process gnome pilot has broken jpilot. I have tried removing
gpilot etc. and removed and reinstalled
jpilot but I still get the error message below when I try to sync with
Jpilot:
pi_accept Illegal seek
Exiting with status SYNC_ERROR_PI_ACCEPT
Finished
Anyone know how I can restore jpilot to its original function?
Thanks in advance.
