gnome panel analog clock?

A while back I was looking for an analog clock to put on my desktop and some folks here recommended gdesklets, which offers a lovely analog clock with a variety of faces and hands (even a pocket watch). I like it a lot. However, now I'm wondering if there is an equivalent clock for the gnome panel. Does "How to create and use Live USB" work with F10?

I tried it using the Windows tool on the F10 KDE image. drive mounts ok, files are visible. But on boot, I just get the message "boot error" -- Fedora 9 : sulphur is good for the skin ( www.pembo13.com )

All I did was add the nomodeset kernel option which apparently turns off KMS, so no flicker free boot, however, adding vga=318 as well still gets me the graphical Plymouth start-up. Richard

Problems with kdm in F10

People, I've just installed F10 and have fully updated the system. When I replace gdm with kdm, I can only log in to KDE using the root account. When I try to log in using a regular user account, I get the following error message: "Cannot enter home directory. Using /." When I click ok, I get this other one: "Could not start kstartupconfig4. Check your installation." If I revert to gdm, everything is fine again. What may be causing this problem? Also, user photos are not shown in kdm. The default image is displayed for every user, despite they all have their photos configured since before F10 was installed. I did a fresh install of F10 (didn't upgrade from F9), but the /home file system was not modified. The user photos still appear in Kickoff. KDM was configured with System Configuration to show preferentially the user photos and use the default image only if users have not provided their own photos. Why aren't the user photos displayed in kdm? Thanks, Marcelo

guys, help me. I made the link, checked SELinux like i did. I've got the experience ya know? I've done all this on all F* up to F7 I also learned a new command "alternatives" nothing helped. "applet not initialized" testing again "google java tester"....just a blank pink box info on the new brave, free, iced cool java is scant. i386 32 bit F8 help the poor soul....ktnx

Mixer settings get overridden after start of the X-server

This is a behavior (bug?) I had observed since F9, so I hoped it would be cured in F10, but alas ... Whenever the X-server starts, the mixer settings of my audio system (kmix, alsamixer) get lost to some rather useless defaults, e. g. I have to manually unmute the right playback channel. I have found out that the settings are restored correctly at system start: when I boot into runlevel 3, alsamixer shows any settings that I had made before. The calamity seems to happen when X and/or KDE come up. My sound card is an old but rather complex one (Terratec DMX6Fire 24/96) which has been well supported by the ALSA-drivers for years now. F-10 Keyboard errors -

I have a problem with the F-10 keyboard producing the wrong codes. XEV displays keycode 104 when I press the down arrow on this F-9 box but on the F-10 box it shows 116. 116 is normally one of the Windows keys [next to the RH ALT key] which I normally have mapped [via xkeycaps] to produce a degree symbol. I tell xkeycaps that it's a PC 104 key keyboard and things usually work, not with F-10, I press the down cursor key and get a degree symbol! Any suggestions appreciated. Bob

Why can't I select the Sun Java VM ?

# alternatives --config java There are 2 programs which provide 'java'. Selection Command ----------------------------------------------- * 1 /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.6.0-openjdk/bin/java + 2 /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.5.0-gcj/bin/java So it thinks I have 2 versions of Java.
