How to set VNC display resolution on F11?

I just installed F11 on an AMD X2 5600+ machine with 4GB and an integrated video system, 9100M, to experiment with it. I'm using the 32 bit OS for right now since I don't want to deal with issues mixing 32 and 64 bits apps and libraries together on one machine. I tried to setup VNC on the above machine. I used the exact same procedure as on another machine I have running F10. The setup on F11, which mostly works, except for the remote display resolution. It seems whatever I set in the "etc/sysconfig/vncserver" file is ignored by the server. The server seems to pick some resolution which does not match the display settings I want on the client side. I used the exact same settings from an F10 box which seems to work fine. I've also used the same setup on a F8, FC5 and an FC3 box too without a problem in the past. Any ideas? Regards; Leland C. Networked pulseaudio guide

Does anyone know of any documentation for setting up networked paulseaudio under Fedora 11? I have pulseaudio working fine on two computers, but one has a much better soundcard/speaker system thant the other, so I want to share that. Can't use mic anymore

I'm not sure, after what update I lost use of mic . Can't use Skype or can't record wit any of recorders. Have tried with pulse and without it, no worky. If I look controlpanel/multimedia, there's no input listed. Have also tried record with alsa commandline tools, no worky. I have 2 cards for different use, one for skype ( ens1370) and another for music etc. multimedia use (snd-hda-intel), I can listen with both cards, but not use mic. Correction... Mic works with snd-hda-intel. Somehow it started working. So, seems that ens1370 has some failure with alsa driver... So, problem partly solved... Jarmo

Fedora 11 simple network question

Hello, Does Fedora 11 allow for plug-n-play router? I mean, can I do the following? 1) My Internet works 2) Go to Best Buy and purchase Linksys Router 3) Go home and insert Router Does Fedora support this? Should I report a bug if this doesn't work? Thanks

[OT]: bash command help - nohup

Hi, I'm trying to run mutliple commands from the command line while using nohup. But I can't seem to get the syntax right, can someone please correct this for me nohup cmd 1;cm2;cmd3 All i get is that cmd1 runs from wiht nohup but the rest run in my current shell. I'd like all to be run with the single nohup command, any thoughts? Thanks Dan

Update on unable to set remote VNC desktop size on F11

I did some searching on google and found out that I have to add the following to the VNCSERVERARGS "-extension RAND" otherwise the geometry setting always seem to be ignored. For example: VNCSERVERARGS[1]=" "-extension RANDR -geometry 1024x768 -depth 16" The other solution is to configure the desktop manager not to use RANDR to resize the desktop from the note I read. not really a fedora question, but i'm interested in a step-by-step description of what happens when one compiles and runs "hello, world". it's sort of a fedora question since i want to relate those steps to the essential fedora packages and where they come into play (gcc, cpp, glibc-devel, libgcc, and so on), related to things like crtbegin, crtend, etc. i'm thinking you get the idea. i wanted to write a short tutorial showing how that process works, adding in usage of nm, readelf and/or objdump to describe what happens at each step. is there anything out there something like that? thanks. rday -- ======================================================================== Robert P. resolution messed up

After an update a few days ago my XFCE desktop started resizing to odd resolutions after login. The splash says starting xfce4-power-manager, but I've tried renaming the file so it doesn't start and the resolution still gets messed up. As a workaround, I have a script which runs xrandr to set the right resolution but I'm hoping it'll get fixed before too long.
