F11 and CD Failure

I've just installed F11 on a small dell machine that had been running FC8. Everything installed ok except it does not mount the CD when I place one in the drive. I used the CD drive during the install of F11 so I know the drive works, and I can use the CD I am trying to mount in other machines so I know the problem is not the CD. I am running VirtualBox and installed Fedora Core 2.6.18-128668.fc6xen. smbclient not seeing all shares vs gvfs

when using smbclient, I don't see all the shares, but using gvfs I can mount one of the ones which don't show up just fine. So, are there are special options to smbclient to see all the shares? It will list hidden shares (end in $), just not all shares (not hidden or administrative). imac9, 1 GeForce 9400 loads x86_64 live cd, but GeForce GT 130 results in a black screen.

I've two machines (imac9,1) first one boots the live cd x86_64 GeForce 9400 but the other machine GeForce GT 130 doesn't(using an i386 works barely). any ideas on how to do an install with with the livecd while being in init3? Justin P. Mattock

ImportError: /usr/lib64/libxml2.so.2: file too short

I updated my Fedora 11 and now only text-konsole works. When trying to yum update, yum does not start. Python "import yum" gives ImportError: /usr/lib64/libxml2.so.2: file too short. Yum update command suggests that perhaps the named module does not match the current version of Python, which is: 2.6 (r26:66714, Jun 8 2009, 16:07:29). I have libxml2-2.7.5-1.fc11.x86_64. So what to do? No X and no yum. Rpm hopefully works, if I now what to get and from where. Bengt

Web Accessible User Directories

Hello, Is there any way to make the user home directories on a Linux system accessible through a password protected web interface ? I am looking for ways to make users access the data lying in their respective directories through a web browser. A simple option is to run a ftp server and use the FTP protocol through a web browser, which however, is the last choice. Alternatively, is there any application which can authenticate users and make their designated directories (which may or may not be under home directories) accessible through a web interface ? I would appreciate some suggestions or pointers. Thanks, -- Manish

OpenOffice Errors

Yesterday I installed OpenOffice on this (new, but completely updated) Fedora 11 system. I installed it from the standard Fedora repositories using yum. Dozens of RPMs were downloaded and installed. But something, somewhere is not right. I first realised there was a problem when I double-clicked on attachments in email and nothing happened. I then tried starting the apps from the menu, but still nothing happened. When trying to run ooffice from the command line, I see the following: $ ooffice /usr/lib/openoffice.org3/program/soffice: line 129: 28286 Bus error "$sd_prog/$sd_binary" "$@" The five digit number varies each time I try it. I'm at rather a loss as to where I can start to track down this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Dave...
