Tomcat6 docs

Hi all, I'm a newbie tomcat user, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question! ;) I've installed the package tomcat6-docs-webapp-6.0.18-9.2.fc11.noarch, but it contains all zero size html files. Of course, I can't see anything, as well, if I use the URL: http://127.0.0.1:8080/docs/ Any advice,please ? Thanks Alessandro

I have tried Fedora 12 and installed httpd with php found a strange thing. My httpd always returns "Connection: close" header with response, even if i am using Connection: keep-alive header (both http1.0 and 1.1). I tried to check response with LWP, trough socket, and using FF3 with live headers plugin. Is this a misconfiguration of apache or something? Wha'ts the problem?

skype issues on Fedora 11

Hi All; I have a client that uses skype for group IM sessions when we do production release calls. I've installed Skype on my Fedora 11 box but when I click on the 'join public chat' link the group sends out (running firefox) I get this: "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (skype) isn't associated with any program." I tried following the directions found here: http://share.skype.com/sites/linux/2006/08/making_skype_links_work.html but it still didn't work. Thoughts? Thanks in advance

Wine (?) spoiling F12 boot

Follow-ups set to gmane.linux.redhat.fedora.general On my #2 PC, I had finally given up on preupgrading. I copied /home/btth onto an external hard drive; did a fresh install; copied /home/btth back (and did "chown -R btth:btth" on it just in case); did a lot of customizing; did a PackageKit update, which called for rebooting; did the reboot. That failed. Somewhere among all the above, I got disgusted with the display, which turned out to be 800x600 -- despite being connected directly (no KVM switch!) to the 1680x1050 monitor. The app I tried to correct with turned out (later, on another machine) *not* to be system-config-display, but something called "gnome-display-properties"; so I edited 1680x1050 into xorg.conf. When I reboot, the boot messages look normal to me, except for the left edge being truncated by one character -- until it hits this line : "[r]egistering binary handler for Windows applications [OK]" At that point the whole display flashes, several times per second for several seconds -- and then everything stops. I can get into the machine with ssh. I did; became root; took "Windows applications" with upper case W as a clue; commanded "yum update wine"; and found wine up to date. I tried "yum update samba" -- and found samba available but not installed. Still as root by way of ssh, I tried editing xorg.conf, but saw nothing to change. I tried googling the whole message above. That got surprisingly few hits, all or nearly all in the Far East -- with a couple in what looks like some Indonesian language, and several with a line I believe to be Japanese, but otherwise all format of some enigmatic sort, and no text. So I took one more shot : [root@Hbsk X11]# system-config-display Couldn't start X server on card 0 Couldn't start X server with old config, trying with a fresh configuration Couldn't start X server on card 0 Error, failed to start X server. [root@Hbsk X11]# Now what?? -- Beartooth Staffwright, Neo-Redneck, Not Quite Clueless Power User I have precious (very precious!) little idea where up is.

Preupgrade to F11 worked but...

I ran preupgrade to go from F10 to F11 and I was pleasantly surprised (because F9->F10 was a mess) that it worked almost flawlessly. When I booted into F11 for the first time, I got a warning about a ssl library not being found. To cut a long story short, I have found that there are 62 packages that did not get updated from F10, one of them being httpd. I considered just deleting the offending rpm and reinstalling but there are so many dependencies. Is this a common problem and how have others overcome it. Thanks, Steve

i386 yum update download stops: updates/filelists_db

Trying to do a yum makecache on my fedora 12 i386 machine and it starts downloading updates/filelists_db and the download rate gets slower and slower, from 100s of KBs/second to KBs to 100s of B/s to Bytes/seccond to 0 B/s - basically stopping. I can Control-C to restart but the same happens again. After a couple of Control-C's it switches mirrors but it still happens. Whats up? Thanks. Richard

Kde problems

I'm using fc12-86_64,my problem is when ever I logout/login or shut-down/reboot I lose kde,it will not start,only a blue screen. and no desktop.Sometimes I get the error 'cannot access /usr/bin/autorun: no such file or directory' so I cp -r /usr/bin/autorun from my backup and logout/login with no result. An install a while ago my sys. booted into a default desktop not my usual desktop,I found out that kde was not reading my ~/.kde file,I cp -r a copy from ~.kde.old ~.kde but on logging out/in the ~.kde file was over written.The only solution I've had is to reinstall the system. I've got no idea how to troubleshoot these problems.Help would be appreciated. david
