nvidia.ko issue

hello, trying to update my Fedora 10. i use the nvidia-kmod packages and am getting this error: Test Transaction Errors: file /lib/modules/2.6.27.9-159.fc10.i686/extra/nvidia/nvidia.ko from install of kmod-nvidia-2.6.27.9-159.fc10.i686-180.22-1.fc10.i686 conflicts with file from package kmod-nvidia-2.6.27.9-159.fc10.i686-177.82-1.fc10.7.i686 Upon my last upgrade emerald will no longer load. How To Use Monitor Connected To Laptop At Desired Resolution

I have a Dell 1907FP LCD monitor connected to my Dell Latitude E6400 laptop via the VGA port on the side. (Too bad it isn't HDMI, but one can't have everything.) The video card is detected as an 'nVidia Corporation unknown (0x06eb)' by system-config-display. What I want xorg to do is to recognize that there are two displays running: the laptop's native display and the Dell 1907FP, and use each of these displays at the resolutions they can support. Indeed, I want to be able to connect an external Dell 2407WFP display as well, and have xorg detect which of the two external monitors is being used, and drive the external monitor at the resolution it uses best such as 1920 x 1200. Remote desktop connection (F10)

Hello guys, I've seen recet discussion about nomachine remote server/client. I would like to have a remote desktop connection to my fedora 10 server, which the most effective user feeling as if I was working on keyboard and lcd attached to server. To compare, I am looking exactly for the same as microsoft remote desktop connection and microsoft services terminal (mstsc). What I like the most is XDMCP connection, which I am using a lot currectly. But this has a big disadvantage, after I will close connection, session is lost, and I am not able to login to current session (loged user) again. Please help, many thanks David Hlacik

Since when doesn't Fedora use xorg.conf ?

There are all sorts of posts associated with the "Disabling mouse taps on Fedora 10" thread that state that Fedora 10 doesn't use an xorg.conf file. When did Fedora/X stop using an xorg.conf file ? It certainly isn't mentioned in the F10 release notes. http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes/f10/en_US/What_is_New_for_Insta… How and where are the X system settings set and held now ? Thanks

Re : DVD burning problem

I have been requested for more system details which follow : I am running Fedora 10 on an Asus system using a Pentium E5200 dual core. My CD/DVD is an LG Super Multi GSA-H55. When I try to burn a DVD using K3b, I get a request to insert a blank DVD into the drive : I do so but I still get that message and the ability to continue is grayed out. The curious thing about all this is the fact that I've used this drive before now and successfully burnt DVDs (but maybe under an earlier Fedora, I can't remember now!). CroombeFP -- This e-mail produced entirely under Linux. Absolutely NO M$ products have been used.

gvim with Gnome hangs when maximising

On Fedora 10 running Gnome, when I am usin gvim, if I maximise the window it (gvim) freezes and I have to kill it off. This does not happen when I switch to KDE or XFCE. Does anyone know how to resolve this problem? help with custom fdi file/hal callout in f10

hi there, on fedora10 with hal 0.5.12-14 i'm trying to get some powersaving settings changed when the psu is connected/disconnected to my acer aspire one laptop. i have written the script that sets these powersaving options and i have saved it in /usr/lib/hal/scripts/hal-aao-powertweaks then i created the file /etc/hal/fdi/policy/30-aaopowertweaks.fdi with the contents <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <deviceinfo version="0.2"> <device> <match key="ac_adaptor.present" bool="true"> <append key="info.callouts.add" type="strlist">/usr/lib/hal/scripts/hal-aao-powertweaks</append> </match> </device> <device> <match key="ac_adaptor.present" bool="false"> <append key="info.callouts.remove" type="strlist">/usr/lib/hal/scripts/hal-aao-powertweaks</append> </match> </device> </deviceinfo> and re-booted but it doesn't work. can anyone point a relative linux newb in the right direction to get this working thanks in advance phil

F-10 xmodmap/xkeycaps problem -

Can anyone tell me why xmodmap and xkeycaps do not work in F-10 as they do in F-9? This keeps me from upgrading this computer. Bob
