what could "use up" X forwarding connections?

Anyone have any clues about what could "use up" some resource used to create a forwarded X connection (ssh -X)? I've got these testbeds that run 24/7 on random collections of both real and virtual machines, and they are all started from inside a VNC session using ssh -X to get to the target test machine. The theory is that any test which needs a X server will be happy with the VNC server. After running for a few months, tests sometime start failing because they can't open the X server. Reboot the host (which is running fedora 13) and recreate the VNC server and things work again. Seems like something is getting "used up" that the reboot cleans up, but I haven't been able to find out what that something is :-).

NFS Buffering

I have a fedora 13 box on which I have a remote mounted nfs share over a fairly slow (10Mb/s) link. I'm then transferring data onto this share from a different machine using scp. The problem is that after scp reports that it's 100% complete the program will hang for ~20 mins before it will move on to another file. At this point it can't be killed. It looks like the nfs daemon is caching write data (around 2GB of it) which lets scp think its finished when actually there's loads of data sitting in a write buffer. The hanging is presumably the time it takes to flush the buffer (there is a process called nfsiod which is active during this time and df shows data is still being written). Does anyone know how to either make this buffer smaller, or get rid of it all together so the scp can accruately report on its progress? Thanks Simon.

Plugins for Totem

Movie Player using GStreamer 0.10.20 and GNOME Totem cannot play this type of media (DVD) because it does not have the appropriate plugins to be able to read from the disc. I don't want to know about them, I just want to get them and play my DVD. Thank you, AnneMarie Robinson

missing command

If this comes across as a newbie question...I apologize. i simply don't know the answer. I recently installed Fedora 13. I'm used to using "wget" and "GET". When trying to run a few of my old scripts I found that "wget" and "GET" were not installed. I was able to install "wget" by using "yum install wget". This does not work with "GET". Can someone point me to the correct package that may include "GET"? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

System time running fast

I have an HP computer with an AMD Athlon X2 dual core processor. It has Fedora 13 on it. It continually reports the time incorrectly and gets further off(fast) as time goes by. I doubt this is a Fedora problem, but am not sure how to fix this and thought I'd ask here. I know how to reset the time, but want to know what can be done so there wouldn't be any need to do that. Intel GMA 3100 Card in fedora 13

Hello, Humm I have a question... I've been trying out many distros in my computer by LiveCD's and all of them (Mandriva, OpenSUSE, Kubuntu just to give some examples) are fully compatible with my Intel GMA 3100 card (I can say that because their KDE Desktops are totally Transparent) But in my Fedora 13 I can't get a Transparent KDE Even if I enable Kwin effects (Wich make computer slow btw) and if I wanna run Windows 7 inside VMware player I can't get Aero working because (as vmware says) The system doesn't have 3D Graphics support or something like that... Is there a solution for my problem? Do I have to install something in order to get fedora recognizing my Graphics card? FC 13 - 64bit and Ruby

All: I have a question concerning how to download a workable version of Ruby. When I YUM INSTALL RUBY i get ruby 1.8.6 which is great no issue but I want to do some Rails development work and the Rails requirement is 1.8.7 or 1.9.2 so how do i point YUM to the correct Ruby. F13 <-> Samsung Galaxy S via USB

Hi folks, If I connect a USB memory stick to my laptop it access it fine, with it appearing in the 'Devices recently plugged in' and I can access the stick fine. If I try this with my Samsung Galaxy S in Mass storage mode, it doesn't work. If you look at the following extract from /var/log/messages, you can see that it gets as far as seeing the two devices (Phone memory and Micro SD card) but doesn't make them available. The Toshiba shown below is the memory stick that works. Anyone know what I need to do to fix this?
