Fedora 14 : Microphone Mute Button not working

Hi, Lenovo W510 laptop with dual boot (Window 7 and Fedora 14). Microphone Mute Button is not working in Fedora 14 (Working Properly in Window 7) Speaker Mute and Volume control works fine. Issue is with Microphone Mute Button in Fedora 14. When I press the Microphone Mute button, orange light is not becoming On. ( I observed the orange light in Window 7).

Help test "extras" installer

In case anyone's interested, please help me test the new Kororaa bash "extras" installer script for Fedora. Essentially, I’ve merged the original Flash and NVIDIA driver installers into a new bash script, which also handles AMD’s fglrx driver. It supports KDE, GNOME as well as console, and if you don't have the required repositories it can configure these for you too. after pre-upgrade my installation hangs, too

I start another thread but i think i am very near FC14 Installation Hangs I am on F13 and i try to preupgrade to F14. My is a notebbok, Presario C750 no esotheric harware, then, and not so old, even if not a recent one. I did preupgrade from F8, upgrading until F13 each time without any issue, w/out reinstalling. After preupgrade finish to download packages, system restart and during restart it hangs with black screen. I can see kernel boot but lines are very very fast. It's a Firefox Add-on: https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere Questions: 1) But: Why can't i find it on the offical Firefox Add-ons site?: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ 2) Did anyone audited the "HTTPS Everywhere" code? 3) Can someone trust this Add-on? switching to gnome-shell and then back to the std desktop changes totally the Applications menu

Hi, somebody has seen this: I'm running F14 with the std Gnome desktop. For curiosity I switched to gnome-shell for a short period and then back to the std Gnome desktop. This had the weird effect that the Applications menu of my desktop was totally restructured. I had to logout and login again for getting (automatically) the old Applications menu structure. Setroubleshoot errors in /var/log/messages

I get hundreds of these in my /var/log/messages: Jan 22 08:59:45 hobbes setroubleshoot: Setroubleshoot can not analyze AVCs while dontaudit rules are disabled, 'semodule -B' will turn on dontaudit rules. What does it mean and should I do what it says? Thanks, Richard

Asterisk kernel modules?

Hi, I have an FC14 x86_64 system and would like to install asterisk v1.6. I've installed the following packages: # rpm -qva |egrep 'asterisk|dahdi' dahdi-tools-libs-2.1.0.2-10.fc14.x86_64 asterisk-1.6.2.12-0.1.rc1.fc14.x86_64 asterisk-voicemail-odbc-1.6.2.12-0.1.rc1.fc14.x86_64 dahdi-tools-2.1.0.2-10.fc14.x86_64 asterisk-voicemail-1.6.2.12-0.1.rc1.fc14.x86_64 asterisk-dahdi-1.6.2.12-0.1.rc1.fc14.x86_64 asterisk-sounds-core-en-1.4.20-1.fc14.noarch However, there are no dahdi kernel modules. Does anyone know why this is, and where they might be found? I understand there is an additional atrpms repo available, but was just wondering why fedora would have all but the most important piece to make asterisk work? What is the recommended method for getting it running on fc14? Thanks, Alex

F14 drpm needed for updates?

I maintain my own repo of F14 I rsync each night with: 00 2 * * * root /usr/bin/rsync -auv --delete --exclude=debug/ --exclude=drpms/ rsync://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/updates/14/i386/ /media/2GHJTCB4/repos/fedora/14/updates/i386 Note I exclude the drpms directory. Never needed it for F12 or 13. But now with F14 I get: http://repo.home.htt/FC14/updates/i386/drpms/sssd-1.5.0-1.fc14_1.5.0-2.fc14…: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404 : http://repo.home.htt/FC14/updates/i386/drpms/sssd-1.5.0-1.fc14_1.5.0-2.fc14… Trying other mirror. The updates work with these errors. Why are the drpms being referenced? Do I really need them? If not, what do I change in the yum conf to get it to stop trying to get them?

putting "/tmp" to memory

"to memory" means: mounting a ~2 GByte filesystem [ tmpfs?, or ramfs? ], and put the "/tmp" on it. [ e.g.: 4 GByte ram in the pc ]. what to write in the "/etc/fstab"? I would like to collect the [ answers too:P ]: Advantages: - Memory is way faster then HDD/SSD, so it could speed things up - "SSD amortization" is less Disadvantages: - Security? [ how to set this up to be secure? any clear howtos/links regarding it? :O ] Really thank you for any good help...
