Update tex-live package?

mplayer doesn't like me again

It doesn't tell me my computer is too slow, it just gives me a rather pixelated image. People look like there made of burlap. The output from mplayer has two things that look like error messages to me. > Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_nvidia.so: cannot open shared > object file: No such file or directory > [vdpau] Error when calling vdp_device_create_x11: 1 and > [VD_FFMPEG] DRI failure.0.051 ct: -0.030 0/ 0 ??% ??% ??,?% 0 0 I don't even know why it looks for VDPAU. I have a GeForce card. Presumably things would go badly if it found libvdpau_nvidia.so . Once upon a time, I knew what DRI failure meant, but I've forgotten and googling turns up questions but no answers. /var/log/Xorg.0.log includes, among other things: > [ 86356.565] Dac detection success > [ 86356.565] (II) RADEON(0): Output: DVI-0, Detected Monitor Type: 0 > [ 86356.565] Unhandled monitor type 0 > [ 86356.565] (II) RADEON(0): EDID for output DVI-0 from mplayer -V, the last lineis > vo: x11 uninit called but X11 not initialized.. how to change nautilus' default browser?

Hi all, Subject says it all. I've gone through every option I could find, right clicked everything, grepped through .nautilus and .gnome2* and haven't the slighted idea why nautilus insists on opening Chrome when the system default is set to Firefox. (IMO Chrome isn't ready for prime time: the Firebug extension for it is a joke, its UI is tedious; it may be faster at some things but its shortcomings *way* overwhelm any of its benefits.) How to get better looking fonts

Hello, I pulled myself together and worked around the LVM problem and the rest of the installation actually worked fine. Now I'm wondering if there is a way to get the font rendering to look different. I followed all the instructions on http://fedorasolved.org/Members/khaytsus/improve-fonts/, but the fonts look pretty much unchanged: http://www.rath.org/res/fedora.png I would like them to look more like this: http://www.rath.org/res/ubuntu.png Any recommendations? gksu alternative for Fedora

I want to run an app [graphical] not with my default user on my laptop when using GNOME. Are there any gksu alternatives for Fedora 14? Even kdesu isn't in the offical repositoryes. Why?

I have a Geforce 4 MX graphic card which has 2 outputs - one for the monitor, one for TV. In KRandRTray, I switch the TV output to "disable" as I don't have anything on it, apply the set-up & save it to default. When I do either a restart or a new start, The new set-up has the TV output again to the right of the main 1440*900 monitor screen. Any thoughts what I might be doing wrong?? Mozplugger does not work for PDF files

Does anyone have mozplugger working for them for PDF files? Not sure if I have something broken, or if its a mozplugger bug. Opening links with PDF files downloads them as any other file, instead of being opened with evince inside a Firefox window. Mozplugger seems to be working for other filetypes. mp3 files get opened in totem, inside Firefox.

misuse command dd, how to recover

Hi all, I just input a wrong output device file of the dd command it should be "dd if=xxx.iso of=/dev/sdc" but I input "dd if=xxx.iso of=/dev/sdb", so my hard disk partition is ruined. The xxx.iso is just 3GB, but I have 400GB data in the disk which means other data are still there. Is there anything I can do to get the files back to me. It's partition type is NTFS. Banshee segfaults on Fedora 13/KDE 4.5.3

Hello Everyone, I have seen this subject in many places on the internet in my attempt at solving my problem on my own... But, no one offers any solutions that I found. I want to use Banshee music player because it supports AmazonMP3 downloading. It runs perfectly on my system IF I log into Gnome... If I attempt to run it under KDE 4.5.3 (soon to be 4.5.4) it crashes thusly: http://www.afolkey2.net/~steve/20101220-2023-banshee-ErrorLog.txt None of the bugs listed here seem to have anything to do with my issue: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=banshee Also, the Gnome bugzilla does not seem to have anything relevant to my issue: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=banshee This message shows that Banshee is working for Rex Dieter on his Fedora 13 desktop: http://www.mail-archive.com/users@lists.fedoraproject.org/msg17663.html The above link to the Redhat bugzilla makes me think that this person never followed Rex's advice to file a bug.
