how to transfer NM settings between computers

Does anyone know how to save all the networks settings stored via NM applet - wired, wifi and vpn. Ideal would be in text file format - which I can transfer to a different computer and import back into its NM applet. Or copy to the appropriate place to be read by nm/nm-applet. Thanks! gene/

cdrom icon not updating

Linux 2.6.35.6-45.fc14.i686 on amd phenom x4 just installed fc14 on new drive when manually opening/replacing cd, the desktop icon still opens to the former dvd content display; ie refresh only occurs when right-click-eject occurrs. is this a bug or a feature? TIA rfjones

Anti-Evolution rant.

Hi; Just getting some stuff about the Evolution program off my chest. If I can get some suggestions along the way that would be a bonus. The only use I had for WindowsXP was using Outlook to print out my calendar. My Windows harddisk died a month ago. It was due;it was old. But now I have to completely rely on Evolution. Evolution would do me just fine if I could get my calendar printed the way I am used to and the way I want. I no longer have any PIM devices and do I want them. I find devices just interfere with a face-to-face conversation. I want a piece of paper on which I can write quick notes to myself without losing eye contact. Old fashioned -- may be -- but it is what works for me. Windows Outlook used to give me my piece of paper tasks, appointments and all, that I could fold up and carry in my hip or shirt pocket. Three years ago I filled a Request for Enhancement through Gnome Bugzilla. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470934 I seemed to have received some interest at the time so I filed a full description with diagrams for that bug report. Nothing. I have even offered to learn enough about Evolution programming to create it myself. I asked for some advice on how I should get started. (They seemed to be making programming changes at the time). I thought needed some simple advice just to get started particularly for creating print forms. Should it be a plugin? Can I do what I want as a Plugin? Got nothing. Now I am on a search for a replacement for Evolution that lets me have some control over calendar print out forms. yum doesn't work as expected with "clean"

The "yum clean packages" command removes all cached rpms as desired, but leaves all the drpm files. I wondered why my disk space was getting tight on a small server, and that was the issue. Is that intended behavior? help with ldap

Hello, I'm trying for some days to get an ldap server working, but I'm stuck with some issues ;( Some of them, I just worked them around, but there's one I can't deal with, I can get a user to change it's password in a client machine. This is a RHEL 6 server with compat-openldap-2.4.19_2.3.43-15.el6.x86_64 openldap-devel-2.4.19-15.el6.x86_64 openldap-2.4.19-15.el6.x86_64 openldap-servers-2.4.19-15.el6.x86_64 openldap-clients-2.4.19-15.el6.x86_64 the slapd.conf interesting part: access to attrs=userPassword,shadowLastChange by self write by anonymous auth by dn="cn=admin,dc=linux,dc=imppc,dc=org" write by * none access to * by dn="cn=admin,dc=linux,dc=imppc,dc=org" write by * read access to * by dn="cn=admin,dc=linux,dc=imppc,dc=org" write by * read This is the client rpms (fedora 14) openldap-2.4.22-7.fc14.x86_64 openldap-devel-2.4.22-7.fc14.x86_64 openldap-2.4.22-7.fc14.i686 openldap-clients-2.4.22-7.fc14.x86_64 And the problem is this: client_machine-bash-4.1$ passwd Changing password for user user1. Enter login(LDAP) password: New password: Retype new password: LDAP password information update failed: Insufficient access passwd: Authentication token manipulation error I have to mention that I had to made some changes in order to simply be able to query for a user. Ldapsearch worked but in order to do something like : id user1 or su - user1 I had to change /etc/sysconfig/authconfig with FORCELEGACY=yes #FORCELEGACY=no In this way I have been able to modify /etc/nsswitch with ldap values when running authconfig-tui (otherwise it was only using sss and I couldn't even be asked for the ldap password). The point is the sss system. Without this entry (sss in nsswitch) I'm not able to id or su, but if I don't put the ldap keyword, I'm not even asked for the Enter login(LDAP) password: but I'm asked for the "local" password which of course, doesn't exists, so I get a nice "system error -4" because the system doesn't recognize it. I don't know if I made myself clear enough, hope you can help me and I really thank you in advance for any help you could provide. Cant get networking working in Fedora14

I sent this several days ago, and it didnt make it to the list, Im trying again. -------------------- I am just now bringing up Fedora14 (Ive been running Fedora11). Something has changed, since the way I have always done things to bring up networking just doen't work. I can setup /etc/sysconfig/network /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 either by hand or using the system-config-network script, and everything LOOKS ok, but I can not ping this machine from the outside, nor can I ping from it to another machine on the same network. The hardware is fine, since I have Knoppix running on the machine at the moment (to verify that the machine and its cables were ok) and its networking came up just fine. So, what's changed between Fedora11 and Fedora14, other than setting up the above files (or using system-config-network) what do I need to do??? Thanks in advance. -- Reg.Clemens reg(a)dwf.com

F14 not supporting mouse clicks or left mouse button on HP Pavillion laptop

I have just installed F14 LIVE on my HP Pavillion ze4427 laptop mouse movement works fine but there is no double click tap and the left mouse button does not work. F10 used to work fine on it. Also is there a short cut key combination to get back to the Fedora Gnome menu in order to shut it down ? Help, Aaron
