intel 5100 wifi card problem

Hi All! I have a big and old problem with my toshiba satellite notebook's wifi. The original wifi card was a realtek, which is always freezed, so after a few months I decided to replace that card to an intel one. I searched the net for full supported wifi card, and I found that intel wifi link 5100 will be the good choice for linux. I get the interface, installed to my computer, and everything was fine for a little time. Now my problem is the card after few minutues or an hour hangs on. I tried to associate the card again to my AP, but no success. Additional info, my card is placed my notebook sorrounded by pastic parts, and there is no possibility to cool down the interface. Maybe it's overheated. Any suggestion? twm on F15

Is it possible to run twm on fedora 15? I can't find anything on it in documentation. The only link I've found so far is this: http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/12/html/Deployment_Guide/s2-x-cl… It's outdated and doesn't work. I did the following: became root and run init 3 then xinit -e /usr/bin/twm After that there was an error from X-server about usb-configuration and then it halted. TIA -- Hiisi. thanks for all of the responses to Tim: sticky bits on /tmp are set to Ed Greshko: I do not see 'authentication failure', the login screen just recycles to Kam Leo, others: I can't get runlevel 3 to take effect: Working from my mainf14, I changed the /etc/inittab in the f14backup, [root@f14 ~]# cd /media/rootusb2_ [root@f14 rootusb2_]# cat etc/inittab ... id:3:initdefault: [root@f14 rootusb2_]# rebooted to the backupf14, same response, acts like still in X blue screen, login screen just recycles, no change at all. To Lamar Owen, Dan Walsh: I feel like a perpetual newbie re selinux. Not sure how to proceed, because I can't get past the login screen in backupf14 . Anything I can do re selinux, working from my mainf14? Jack

F15 lot's of bugs on gnome ?

Hi, I've upgraded from f14 to f15 by preupgrade. It was been easy and without problems. Now I have this new gnome 3 desktop environment that's seems usable and maybe comfortable.. But... there is a little but.. It is very buggy... for example I cant add any printers.. I cant do right-click->properties on any folders/files (the window freezes)... once I had big squares on activity space.. and today a kernel crash.. These problems are common to you too ? per Lamar Owen from my mainf14, put in .autolabel into my backupf14 / [root@f14 rootusb2_]# ls -la ... -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 0 Jun 28 12:14 .autorelabel then rebooted to backup14 it took its time doing relabel (20min?) then rebooted automatically, but to mainf14, so I rebooted manually to backupf14, and this time didnt get stuck in login recycle! but was left with a spinning circle pointer lasted 5min? maybe more of the relabel process? [byers@f14 df12mail]$ mount /dev/sda2 on / type ext3 (rw) that's my backupf14 / I am sending this email from my backupf14. Still something not right: why wasnt i put in runlevel 3? f15 :: how to activate the network to start at boot

Hi! So .. overall fedora (and fedora 15) is an extraordinary distro from the point of view of KDE integration (of which i am completely dependent for work (development) as for personal tasks(multimedia)) From some other points .. its a pain .. For example ... NetworkManager is a piece of !@#$ it doenst see any wireless even if tools like Wireless Assistant or WiFi Radar (2.0.s08) see a lot of APs .. in order to make my wireless to work i have to remove the NetworkManager packets .. now wireless is working and with WiFi Radar i can connect over wireless .. Now the problem is that over the wire the network service is not starting automatically and after the boot i have to start the service by hand ... The exact question is : how is done in systemd (other piece of .. wisdom) to automatically start a service? it seems tha chkconfig is not working ... and ALSO THE SYSTEM-CONFIG-SERVICES IS NOT WORKING!!!!!!! I apologize for my tone, but frustration is great when so great opposites (greatly done distro) and some not-thought-enough-through choices are colliding head to head .. Thank you, Adrian

Fedora 14 cron sometimes executes multiple times

This is a new server and very little is running on it, only my colleageue and myself have jobs running.
