Gnome Shell and multiple monitors

Hi there, I have an LGx200 netbook (atom N470, 1366 x 768 Intel GMA 3150, 2GB RAM) which I used with Fedora 14 and compiz with no problems, using an external monitor or projector to show OpenOffice Impress slideshows. It was very nince having the slide full screen on the external monitor and the LCD screen using the presenter view with notes, time, etc. After installing Fedora 15 (fresh new install) I see Gnome Shell gets lost whenever I try to use an external monitor and NOT using twin display. Once I managed to get gnome starting into the "failback mode", "security mode", "classic mode" or whatever you call it -- without Gnome Shell and everything worked fine for my presentation. But other times I had to use twin display and was not able to use LibreOffice Impress nice features for external monitor. So I have two questions: 1. How to make gnome shell work fine with an external monitor and NOTusing twin display? 2. Failing (1), how to control whether I start Gnome using the gnome shell or another "classic " window manager / desktop manager ? []s, Fernando Lozano

Update 802.11n Official Standard

backup copy of F14 boots, but can't login

My backup copy of F14 boots, all looks normal, boot messages all "OK" but then I can't login: after entering my password the screen recycles to the login screen, and continues to do this if I keep trying. [byers@f14 ~]$ uname -r 2.6.35.13-92.fc14.i686.PAE hints?, advice? Jack

External USB-drive and F15

Hi, folks! Recently I have been granted with external usb-drive. It's 3TB FA GoFlex Desk of Seagate: http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/external/external-hard-drive/desk… I've formatted it as ext4 and plugged into machine running F 15. I use it as apache server directory and as mysql data directory (this computer serves as internal testing server for web-developers). system monitor appears twice in F15 Application List.

Wifi Firmware update

Is there going to be a wifi firmware update to accommodate the new 802.11n standard recently released. I am using the Pro/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN Wifi card and can not connect to my recently purchase Overdrive Pro 3g/4g. It is equipped with the new 802.11n and my card will not connect to it except through the g mode. Hi guys and galls, I'm testing few older gpraphics cards and few nvidia cards have issue when using nouveao module that after typing in login info I don't see GNOME Shell nor compatible mode dekstop but just get message saying: "Oh no! Something has gond wrong. A problem has occured and the system can't recover. Please log out and try again." This looks like Fedora tried to load GNOME Shell but it didn't detect card features correctly so it fails. My question is why GNOME doens't just switch to compatible mode instead of crashing? Which logs are relevant with this issue? Should I look at X log or GNOME Shell has some of its own logs, and if it has where are they located? I'm interested to see what causes the issue. I tried also loading nvidia proprietary module but it looks it doesn't support latest X in Fedora 15. I'm willing to work with devels to track down bugs and make Fedora 15 and GNOME Shell better but need some guidance.
