Update error (Test Transaction): glibc

Using diskless clients in Fedora 14

It's been a while since I've done anything with diskless clients. I've read and followed the steps Chapter 18 of the "Storage Admin Guide". My cluster (server + 2 nodes) is working, but I have some questions: 1) The docs make it look like all the clients share the same filesystem and mount it read-write. Wouldn't this cause problems? I recall in the older versions there were separate directories for each client. 2) I've tried looking for a concrete examples of setting up a small diskless cluster using Fedora 14. Has anyone done it? - Jon

info on mgmt of double video adapter

Hello, some laptops have both an integrated video chipset, and a pci one. Eg Asus U36SD-RX196X has one I7-2620QM processor with Intel HD Graphics 3000 and provides a NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M with 1 GB of dedicated ram too. For normal operations the embedded Windows 7 OS should use the integrated one granting minor battery consumption, while for "srong" video operations, the nvidia one would be "automatically" used... As I would like to buy this one I was thinking about mgmt of this double video in Xorg configuration in general and in Fedora 15 in particular, as I think other hw products have this kind of config. Any help/info/pointer is appreciated. Gianluca

Need to improve Fedora Hardware compatibilty & Gnome3

Hello, Recently working using fedora 15 on my Dell laptop becomes pain in my neck. So i figure out that linux & fedora needs a lot of improvement to do. So i come up with a list that i thinks lacks in Fedora & Gnome 3. Like:- - Hardware drivers like for Canon printers needs to be update. Some drivers are missing or not avail. - Drivers for wifi card & Bluetooth devices are not available. (Like 9 out of 10 dell laptops doesn't detect wifi card on fedora. For eg..in my case i have intel centrino 6230 wificard it doesn't works on fedora but in Ubuntu it works. Same with HP & Toshiba but better than dell) - Bugs in wifi drivers (Some time wifi card detects the network but don't connect to it or some time get connect but automatically disconnects. there is no problem with network settings i have checked on many computers. ) In Gnome 3:- - Drag & Drop functions are really poor. - At some places there are really need of drag & drop. - Lack of themes. - Missing the wobbly effect of windows in Gnome. - Need to improve locations & organization of application launcher in Gnome 3(it is very time consuming to launch an application from start menu). - Stability of Gnome3(I don't know what is the reason behind this but people ofen ask me that gnome 3 some time crashes but it is very rare.) These are not my personal views people love fedora but some time the above problems stops them to use this distro. i personally likes Fedora but my laptop is not fully compatible with it. These are views collected from different people who are connected to me via field of Linux. I really hate when some people say that Windows have more in built drivers than Linux or Hardware compatibility of Linux is poor than Windows. So i think that these are required changes to be made in Fedora or people want these changes to be made. I really want to thank programmers & people who are contributing there knowledge to Open source & Linux helping to make Linux better and more better. how to enable postgresql at boot time by default?

Dialogs now fast

I had posted several messages about the dialog creation and display being really, really slow in multiple apps. I did an yum update a couple of days ago and magically everything is fast again. Both X and Gnome packages were updated. No idea what did it, but whoever you are, you masked developer you... Thank you :). Fred

Mac, Fedora and Thunderbold

Hi all, has anybody experiences the the new MacBook Pro and Fedora? I consider to buy it as my hardware base but will continue to use Fedora. I got to know "from Google" that the Thunderbold port is currently not supported by Linux. Does someone know - is there a (real) chance to have support in Fedora 16 or 17? - does currently nothing work at all (regarding Thunderbold) or is it possible to use it as an additional display port work? (probably connecting 2 displays) Thanks in advance Peter

F15 gnome-phone-manager

Hi When I attempt to start the phone manager, I get the following message: Gtk-ERROR **: GTK+ 2.x symbols detected. Using GTK+ 2.x and GTK+ 3 in the same process is not supported I have no idea how to correct this. Could anyone help? Thanks
