Statistics about spin-popularity?
by Clemens Eisserer
Hi,
Are there some download statictics about the different spins?
The statistics page doesn't seem to differentiate between the spins :/
Thanks, Clemens

User controls over Screensaver...
by Linda McLeod
Would be sweet if the user had optional controls over which files
screensaver picks from.. and options to set the time period of pix in
the screensaver slide-show...
Would be a plus if the screensaver doubled as a screen on screen
slide-show...
Would be even pluser if the user could touch a set key to delete an
unwanted pix from the screensaver file, when that pix happens to show...

F15 - Evolution - Message Window Does Not Refresh
by Manish Kathuria
After moving to Fedora 15, I have experience a couple of issues
related to Evolution. When a message opened in a window is moved to
some other folder, the window keeps on displaying that message instead
of moving on to the next message in the original folder. A new window
has to be opened every time to view the next message, which is quite
different from the earlier behavior.
How can it be rectified ?
Thanks,

Bug in system-config-firewall ?
by linux guy
Hi people.
I'm setting up ssh on a server box.
I'm using system-config-firewall to open up port 22 for it.
Here is the thing... it *appears* that system-config-firewall has port 22
opened up by default, for some reason. Ie the port is checked on the port
list in system-config-firewall.
However, if I run nmap from the remote machine (nmap -sS -F 192.168...) it
shows all the ports to be closed.
If I unselect port 22 and press Apply and then select it and press Apply
again, nmap finds it open and all is well.
However, if I then reboot, the port is again closed ! One seems to need to
repeat the unselect-Apply/ select-Apply procedure to get it working again.
Is it just me or do others have the same problem ?
There is also an issue with saving service setting in system-config-firewall
on my machine, but I'll get to that later.
What other program are people using to manage their firewall settings. I'm
not a fan of manually entering iptable entries.
$ uname -a
Linux zoneminder.localdomain 2.6.40.4-5.fc15.i686 #1 SMP Tue Aug 30 14:54:41

$ yum list system-config-firewall
system-config-firewall.noarch
1.2.29-4.fc15
Thanks !

I am using Fedora 16 on 6 machines, all of them have Selinux enabled, and I
don't see any problem.
Please note that 4 out of 6 machines are used by people
that don't know what Selinux is and what is doing.
To be honest, no Fedora 16
is running as server but all are heavy duty desktops.
My two cents

Need KVM switch
by John Aldrich
I've got two computers -- a Windows XP machine and a Fedora 15 box. I am
sending back the new KVM I bought since it doesn't work at all for my Linux
box (just sits there and doesn't detect that it's plugged in.) It also
doesn't pass along the unifying receiver for my new wireless keyboard and
mouse from Logitech.
I need a USB KVM for my Windows machine as I'm currently using a PS2 with
an adapter. I think the only reason that is working is because my old
Belkin is a powered KVM and doesn't rely on power from the systems.
Anyone got a KVM they can recommend? Bonus if it'll share the speakers with
multiple computers. :D

DHCP or fixed IPs for servers ????
by linux guy
I have a number of servers on our local network. I have always set the IP
on my servers manually, ie disabled DHCP and assigned each one a unique
fixed IP.
Is there a practical way to assign an IP to a server automatically, ie with
DHCP and still have other computers find it on the network and have services
like port forwarding, firewalls, etc. work properly in routers ?
Thanks

What has happened to the Zoneminder website/ info ?
by linux guy
I would like to set up Zoneminder to run some security cameras.
When I google various Zoneminder topics, invariably the website
www.zoneminder.com gets mentions.
That website, and all the documentation on it seems to be no longer in
service. Anyone know what is up with that ?
Where can one get access to some good zoneminder information, like, for
example, a list of hardware that works well with it ?
Thanks !

BFO not working
by Christopher Svanefalk
Dear all,
has anybody had any problems getting past the boot-stage using BFO (
http://boot.fedoraproject.org/index)? Whenever I try, I seem to get stuck at
the download of initrd.img. My network card confirms network activity, but
it just drags out for a long time (almost had the whole screen covered in
dots on the last attempt), and then the system just reboots, seemingly after
random time intervals.
I am running an HP ProBook 4510s, and I have had no real problems with
anything Linux-related prior to this.
Best,
Chris
