old disk in new system

In checking my logs I have noticed there have not been any updates to Fedora 19 since October 12th. Or am I experiencing some sort of problem ? Thanks

Weird yum or rpm effect since some days in F19

Hi all, having a very weird effect since some days: installing a new package with yum or rpm inside a gnome3-session resets the gnome-shell some seconds after the installation has been done (the screen flickers, window frames disappear and re-appear, like a gnome-shell restart). Sometimes, the gnome3 session crashes so it loggs out (with the "oh, no, something..." screen). This happens too in a gnome-classsic session. No such effect inside other session types (mate for example) Anybody sees this too? Fedora 19, KDE 4.11.1, no login screen

Hi, I've just updated F19 and after reboot I do not get the usual kdm login screen. The graphic screen with the F stays there forever. I can login in text mode and run 'startx' and I get to the normal KDE session. Looking at the logs I only noticed [FAILED] Wait for Plymouh Boot Screen to quit and in /var/log/messages there is something about Sep 21 15:24:35 localhost kdm[335]: plymouth --ping -> 0 Sep 21 15:24:35 localhost kdm[335]: plymouth is running ... Sep 21 15:24:35 localhost kdm[335]: plymouth deactivate -> 0 Sep 21 15:24:35 localhost kdm[335]: plymouth --has-active-vt -> 0 Sep 21 15:24:35 localhost kdm[335]: plymouth should quit when server starts Sep 21 15:24:36 localhost kdm[335]: plymouth is active on VT 1, reusing for :0 Sep 21 15:24:36 localhost kdm[335]: X server startup timeout, terminating Sep 21 15:24:36 localhost kdm[335]: X server for display :0 cannot be started, session disabled any idea?

Excluding devices from udev rules?

I've been trying to set up rules suggested by powertop to be applied by default. Unfortunately, the wireless mouse receiver gets shut down randomly when the usb powerdown rules are applied to it -- so I tried excluding it from the udev rule: ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}!="046d", ATTRS{idProduct}!="c529", TEST=="power/control", ATTR{power/control}="auto" ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}!="046d", ATTRS{idProduct}!="c529", TEST=="power/autosuspend", ATTR{power/autosuspend}="2" For some reason that doesn't work.. udevadm test ... clearly shows that the rule matches. I've tried matching only by idProduct and still same result... is != just broken?

What happened to R? I can install neither JGR not deducer anymore? Is it just me, or does this happen to everyone? I guess I really don't need these tools, but the idiot professor in the political science class I took instructed the students to be stupid and in need of these tools, so I forgot how to work without them. Thunderbird unread message count

Has anyone else had problems with Thunderbird showing incorrect unread-message counts on IMAP folders since the last TB update (in the past week or so)? I don't see any bugs reported on it in the Fedora bugzilla. I'm using dovecot as the IMAP server. Deleting the TB *.msf files on the client, and the dovecot* index files on the server, did not help. thunderbird-24.0-3.fc19.x86_64 dovecot-2.2.5-1.fc19.x86_64 - Mike

Dracut

I shoved an sd card into the computer to save something to it, and failed as it was write-protected; I decided to email the file to the device I wanted it on. As this was taking place, the computer was going through an upgrade and needed rebooting. At the encryption password I decided that I couldn't wait and pulled the SD card out. After doing this, as anyone can guess, the dracut command line came up, and thinking of it now, I should have left it rather than entering the reboot command. Do I need to do anything to correct any problems that I may have?
