Website can't see Java

Fedora 18 I have installed ; Icedtea-web java-1.7.0-openjdk But http://gopro.com can't see any java installed. In Firefox plugins you can see the Icedtea plugin.

Experiences with fedup-cli: 18 -> 19: very long download process

Dear Folks, I'll share my experience with upgrading four (non-virtual) machines from Fedora 18 to Fedora 19. In each case, I used fedup-0.7.3-4.fc18.noarch from updates-testing, performing a network upgrade. None of the upgrades were hampered by lack of disk space. The first two went beautifully, flawlessly, and fairly rapidly. After the success of my home machine, I upgraded my work machine from home, and when I came to work on Monday morning it worked perfectly well for me; I was a very happy camper! The third machine is a single core, old ASUS 1000e Eee PC; the downloading appeared to stall after several hours. I restarted fedup-cli --network 19 and it finished after a while longer, and upgraded just fine after the reboot. The fourth machine through, has taken the most time. It's a Lenovo x121e, the only one of the three that was a fresh install of F18. The fedup-cli download process went for more than 40 hours before I interrupted it. fedup-cli was showing all the packages repeatedly, cycling from the beginning of the alphabet after finishing the z packages. Next to each package was written "0B", presumably because it had already been downloaded. I interrupted the process twice and restarted after that initial long wait, and finally it finished this morning, and the upgrade after the reboot went smoothly and rapidly with the solid state disk. Sound being fed back into audio system

Whenever I chat with someone over VoIP, they can hear themselves being fed back into the audio stream. That's true even if I have headphones on. Any idea how to fix this? OS: FC18 Thanks, Anthony

F18 *vs.* yum update??

F18 - gnome-applet-alarm-clock?

Does anyone know if gnome-applet-alarm-clock will be released for F18? The only thing I can find regarding this says that the status is "deprecated", and I do not know what that means. I realize that this is not a top priority item, but I have often used it in previous FC releases, and the current clocks available for F18 do not seem to work very well, at least the alarm function. How do I resolve package conflicts?

There have been a few packages I've wanted to install that have run into conflicts. In some cases, I've simply forced the install and haven't had any problems. In others, like my Google Earth debacle last week, I ended up with some pretty major problems that, thankfully, this list helped me fix. Now, I want to work on building a few RPM's and I need to install the tools. But, when I try, I get an error saying there's a conflict with the filesystem package. What is the appropriate way to resolve this? Thanks! Firewall and DNS caching without NetworkManager

Hello all, I've just installed Fedora 18 X86-64. I disabled and uninstalled networkmanager and use the standard networking stuff which seems to use dhclient. I'm using a standard ethernet connection. So I need to do two things. Feel free to tell me to RTFM if you can provide a link! 1. How do I enable pre-pending of nameservers? I want to use dnsmasq to cache DNS requests so I need to add 127.0.0.1 to the top of resolv.conf. Google searchs take me to the Arch Wiki. I can't seem to find a dhclient.conf file anywhere in /etc. 2. How do I assign a zone in firewalld to my connection? I want to be able to open ports for bittorrent and XMPP jingle voice/video. The firewalld wiki on the Fedora site doesn't seem to be able to answer my question. thanks in advance, Ananda Samaddar

Firewalld - list tables?

Hello, I have been looking at the new Fedora firewall 'firewalld' and the 'firewall-cmd' command. I'm currently running F17 on a PC with an F18 virtual machine, and have been trying to understand firewalld prior to upgrading to Fedora 19. The PC has a modified iptables. So I have been trying to see how to incorporate the changes into the new firewalld. I suspect I will need to use the 'firewall-cmd --direct' option to add the iptables rules (as I see no other way of specifying on the rules source/destination addresses using 'firewall-cmd'). However, 'firewall-cmd' offers both the '--get-chains' and '--get-rules' options, but these both require specifying which table is to be used. How do I know what the tables are? There is no '--get-tables' option. I can run 'cat /proc/net/ip_tables_names' and this lists the standard iptables tables (nat ,mangle, filter). But if I use these names with 'firweall-cmd' all I get is a blank line displayed. E.g. firewall-cmd --direct --get-chains ipv4 nat The same occurs with all the table names. So, my question is this, is 'firewall-cmd' working correctly and simply stating that none of the tables have any chains (and so no rules)? Apple Mac can't access NFS -

Our LAN has a mix of Linux and OSX computers connected to it. The Linux computers work as expected but the OSX computers will not connect, complains: "Could not connect to the server because the name or password is not correct." Problem with Wifi after sleep

Fedora 18, kernel 3.9.4, lspci says "Intel Corporation Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (rev 3e)." Wireless connections work fine, until it wakes from sleep. I see three "direct probes" (among other things), and then connection fails. If I hibernate, and wake up, wireless will work fine. Also discovered that when it wakes up from sleep, it couldn't even see the access point it was using before (according to Network Manager...or maybe it had just removed it from the list since it couldn't connect). Disabling the wireless by both software and hardware switches solved the visibility problem, but did not resolve the connection issue. relevant /var/log/messages parts attached. Any other information you need from me? I'll open a bug, if need be. j -- Joshua J.
