Reverse E-Mail Blockage.....
by EGO-II.1
Hello you Ferdorans! (FedorIANS?...) I have a question,.....now....we
all know that there's ways to block unwanted email from your system
using Message Filters, and they work by blocking a certain domain or
email address and prevent them from hitting your Inbox, I would like to
know if anyone knows of a way to filter your messages in a sort of
"reverse" order.....in other words instead of me telling the Mail Filter
Rule: Block anything with the email address of (ABC@123) I would like it
to be "Allow everything from (123@ABC) and block "Everything Else"...how
would one go about doing this using Fedora 20 and Thunderbird? Any help
would be greatly appreciated
Thank You

Fedora 20 Problems on Dell XPS 41z
by Dave Cross
A couple of weeks ago, I posted a really happy email about how well
the upgrade from F19 to F20 had gone on my laptop. Now, I'm not so
happy. There are two problems that are close to being deal-breakers
for me.
1/ The laptop doesn't wake from suspension
I close my laptop and it goes to sleep. When I open it, I expect it to
wake up again. This has worked well on every laptop I've owned on
every version of Fedora, until now. Now when I open the laptop, I'm
just presented with a small Fedora logo in the middle of the screen.
And all I can do is restart the laptop.
2/ Wifi is really flaky
Wifi has become a bit of a lottery. It's just not solid enough to rely
on. Every so often it just stops working. The icon in the notification
bar doesn't change, I just lose all connectivity. The only solution
I've found is to turn the wireless off and back on again. But it can
take five or six attempts for the wifi to reconnect. And when it does
reconnect, half of the time it will drop again within minutes. The
rest of the time I'll get a pretty solid connection that will work for
a few hours before it drops and I have to go though the same cycle
again.
This was starting to be a problem before I upgraded. But Fedora 20 has
made it far worse. Booting the laptop into Windows gives me a
rock-solid connection. And my desktop (also connecting wirelessly and
running Fedora 20) seems far more reliable. It's just the wifi driver
in the laptop that's a problem.
I realise that I haven't given you enough to go on here, but these
kinds of problems are well outside my Linux experience. Tell me what
diagnostics will we helpful and I'll provide them.
Cheers,
Dave...

upgrade fedora 19 to fedora 20 issue with GPG key
by Rafnews
Hi,
before posting on this forum, i checked on internet for this issue and
found several cause and solutions.
i tried several of them but till now none of them worked.
when i try to update fedora 19 to fedora 20 (/fedup --network 20/) i get
the following error message:
/finding updates 100%

//verify local files 100%

i tried:
1. yum --enablerepo=updates-testing update fedup
but it didn't help
2. rpm --import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-rpmfusion-nonfree-fedora-20
but it didn't help
3. fedup-cli --network 20 --nogpgcheck
install things and reboot with error. After complete restart, uname -a
still shows fedora 19 as version of fedora :(
4. rpm -qi fedup
it returns:
/Name : fedup//
//Version : 0.8.0//
//Release : 3.fc19//
//Architecture: noarch//
//Signature : RSA/SHA256, jeu. 12 déc. 2013 16:22:34 CET, Key ID
07477e65fb4b18e6//
//Source RPM : fedup-0.8.0-3.fc19.src.rpm//
////
/so it is the latest version of fedup according to documentation.
therefore what is wrong ?
thx.

GNOME questions on fc20
by Alex
Hi, I have fc20 installed successfully on my desktop.
How can I configure the clock at the top to show the date? Why would
it be so difficult to do such a simple thing? I googled a bit, and saw
a reference to editing dateMenu.js, but the suggestions didn't work. I
can't believe I'd have to edit a text file to adjust the clock?!
I get the whole thing with not being able to (easily) minimize
applications. I know I can also switch between them with alt-tab. I
also know I can select them from "Activities", but that's an extra two
steps. Is there any way to "dock" apps like we used to be able to, so
I can select them with the mouse to choose between them?
Thanks,
Alex

Weird USB interactions?
by Tom Horsley
When I use my AVRISPmkII programmer to fool with the
microcode on my 3D printer motherboard, my mouse and
keyboard apparently get reset. All the settings I made
with xinput disappear and I have to re-apply them.
The ISP is running through the same powered hub as the
keyboard and mouse, maybe something is resetting more
of the USB tree than it should?
Should I report this as a kernel bug? Should I try to
find more information to gather? What is going on here?

3G dongle getting detected as USB disk on Fedora 18
by Soham Chakraborty
Afternoon folks,
I know that Fedora 18 is kinda obsolete but for a number of reasons, I have
to stick to it for the time being. However, I am quite sure that this
problem/behavior isn't restricted to F18. But since I am using that, ought
to say that.
So, here is the problem.
I have a ZTE K3800 dongle which I use for wireless/3G connection, provided
by Vodafone. When I plugin the device, it prompts to connect and works.
Problem is, as soon as I connect, systemd sends a signal 15 to
network-manager and the applet disappears from system tray. Therefore, if I
try to configure VPN, I find no option. Note that, I am only trying to
configure from the nm-applet.
lsusb shows me this

I checked in /lib/udev/rules.d/ to see whether I can find anything but not
much success.
BTW, this article gives some clues but I don't have the configPack.tar.gz
file to clone.

blueman/bluez in F20
by Ranjan Maitra
Hi,
I have been using blueman intermittently (as needed) for the past few
Fedora distributions but now it appears that that has been obsoleted
for F20. I was wondering what the best way for getting this to work is?
Is there any resource where I can turn to for some help?
I tried bluetooth-wizard and got it to recognize (only) some bluetooth
devices but how do I get to connect to those after that was not at all
clear to me. There used to be something called blueman-manager or
something like that. Is there something equivalent to that?
Many thanks and best wishes,
Ranjan

Used fedup . What happened?
by dave peters
I attempted to upgrade from F19 to F20. I used a dvd of F20 (x64) and
ran:
fedup --device
All appeared to go as I would expect. However, uname now gives me:
Linux localhost.localdomain 3.12.5-200.fc19.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Dec 17
22:21:14 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux.
What have I done? What should I do next? I can restore the previous F19
(I hope)
Thanks
